Versions

From Joggler
Jump to navigation Jump to search

There are two versions of the Joggler (or perhaps just of the boot loader). One starts up with a static O2 logo before changing to the animated 'Bubbles' O2 logo. The other starts with an OPENPEAK logo and again, changes to the animated O2 logo.

The Openpeak version is generally described on the forums as the 'v2' hardware, but the examples I've seen have lower serial numbers. Both report themselves as being 'boardrev: 2' in Settings->About->Firmware.

The box labelling, EAN etc. are identical

A brief inspection of the Openpeak and O2 PCBs shows no obvious differences. They have the same devices (though one is made by a different supplier), similar if not identical tracking and the only silkscreen difference I can see is that the Openpeak board carries a UL logo and a version number. There is another version number on the other side of the board which is identical between the versions, so I suspect the additional info is there only to satisfy some UL labeling requirement - it does not indicate a pcb change.

It does appear that there is a hardware difference between the two versions, at least with the wired ethernet chip:

AO2JOGON = Realtek r8169 chipset

AO2JOGXN = Realtek r8168 chipset
