A much simpler method of achieving a s/pdif output is simply to construct a 'flying' lead from lightweight good quality microphone cable, this can be attached to the two points (pins) as suggested in the main article, and routed out through a slightly enlarged screw hole. I found it completely unnecessary to provide any filtering and used it 'naked' straight from chip as most (if not all) dac inputs have sufficient input filtering etc. All in all a much neater and stock looking solution.
