Joggler Nubie with joggler stuck on OPENPEAK Screen
Hi guys,
just stumbled across your forum, and it looks really helpful, just a bit over powering for a newbie like me. I am sure the answers I need are here, I just cannot find/understand them at the moment.
A bit of histort to start. Up untill last night I had a working Joggler that has been 'upgraded' or 'abandoned' by O2 at some point over the summer. It booted with the OPENPEAK screen and all was well. We had a mains power failure here last night, and the power was off for 30 mins or so. When I got up this morning the Joggler was stuck on the OPENPEAK screen and unresponsive to the touch screen. I have unplugged and reconnected several times, but it still hangs on the boot screen.
Is there a guide for dummies on how to recover the Joggler. My PC skills are a little basic, but I am good at following simple instructions!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have found lots of references to downloading files to memory sticks and the like, but I think I might have to sleep on it, just to see if they make sense in the morning.
Any pointers in the right direction will be very much appreciated.
Cheers guys

Grab this : ftp://ftp.exotica.org.uk/pub/joggler/fi ... -14.img.gz
and write it to a usb stick (you will lose everything on the stick, so make sure you have nothing important on there) using these instructions:
From http://joggler.exotica.org.uk/ubuntu/:
or try:
http://birdslikewires.co.uk/articles/jogglerflash
and write it to a usb stick (you will lose everything on the stick, so make sure you have nothing important on there) using these instructions:
From http://joggler.exotica.org.uk/ubuntu/:
Code: Select all
Note these instructions are untested, but should work - they are based on the instructions from an older Joggler image on http://www.stephenford.org/joggler/". You can refer to that page if needed as it goes into more detail.
Download Win32DiskImager from https://launchpad.net/win32-image-writer/0.1/0.1. Then unpack the .img.gz file using something a tool like 7-zip. Run W32DiskImager.exe, and select the unpacked .img file. Choose the drive that corresponds to your USB stick and use "Write" to write the image.

Re: Joggler Nubie with joggler stuck on OPENPEAK Screen
Breaking down what Wilberforce says above...
1) Download this file to your PC from ftp://ftp.exotica.org.uk/pub/joggler/fi ... -14.img.gz (230Mb download - unzips to 400Mb so a small USB will do)
2) Extract the .img file using WinRAR or similar
3) Use a program called Win32DiskImager on your PC to write the .img file to a USB stick
4) Insert the newly created USB stick into a switched off Joggler and boot it up.
5) After a bit of USB activity on the o2 or OpenPeak first boot screen it should go through a reflashing sequence (on a blue screen).
6) When finished, it should say 'Ready' on a green screen.
7) Take out the stick, reboot (by pulling the plug!) and hopefully you'll have a working Joggler, ready to move onto the next stage
Then install PnP III

Re: Joggler Nubie with joggler stuck on OPENPEAK Screen
Thought it sounded too easy. No problem getting and unpacking the flash thingy, but not a hope of getting the win32discimager, it just won't download for me, tried several sites, but they all link back to launchpad.net, and it just won't come down. any ideas where to get it from, or if there is anything else that will do the trick?
Re: Joggler Nubie with joggler stuck on OPENPEAK Screen
OK, got it to download with firefox, unzipped it with RAR, but no .exe file.
what next, how do I use it if I cannot run it?

Generally pretty bad news. I've seen a few threads with this issue - not sure if they found a work around.

Re: Joggler Nubie with joggler stuck on OPENPEAK Screen
Thanks for the help so far, With this issue the best I can find is ;
http://www.jogglerwiki.com/forum/viewto ... ion#p11816
but it goes on about ubuntu and clean versions from O2 etc etc. I will have to spend more time researching it, but I suppose with out the clean O2 version I am stuffed. I guess the ubuntu stuff is used the same way as the reflash thing, which I have now got my head around, thanks to you guys on here.
