Networking issues

Post by gurney »

Hi

I'm fairly new to Joggling and have an issue with the network connection.

My Joggler has PnP2 and I have it succesfully conected to my wired network and it works perfectly for its intended use, however it is not visible to other computers on the network and vice-versa. Specifically I want to use it to run Squeezeserver. I can connect to the ipaddress:9000 interface but am unable to assign the \\server\music folder in basic settings. (The server is running Windows Home Server 1)

On a related issue, I can't get the slideshow to find the Photos on the server either. Using the Connect & Play, it can see the server but I get the message 'Ensure you've allowed sharing on the device....'

Hope someone can help. Please!!

Many thanks
Tim

I'm guessing that you're trying to get Logitech Media Server to see the music on the shared drives of your networked PC?

You can't use "\\server\sharename" to specify a folder shared on the network under Linux. You have to use a loadable kernel module called CIFS, which doesn't appear to be included as standard on the Joggler's native OS (and therefore PnPmkII).

Take a look at what I posted here in another thread: http://www.jogglerwiki.com/forum/viewto ... =140#p8258. Note that this will involve connecting over an SSH connection and using the command line...
