Homemade theme?

Post by JogglerDave »

Hi just wondering if I could redo the graphics on the PnP MKII build to personalize it for my family, I assume integrating them into the package would be easy enough?

On that note anyone know the size of the icons in pixels and the DPI?

Would even do a joggler wiki theme ;)

##edit### Now that I think about it each icon would be separately packaged in each app so probably too much work to do?

The icons I used for PnPII nearly all start off as *.png files. Some may end up being renamed to icon.swf as some apps didn't work without this. If you want to do it before installing PnPII, you need to extract the relevant *.tar archive, change the icon file and tar it up again. If you want to change them retrospectively, just use WinSCP to replace the icon files in the relevant app directory. You'll need to use the same file name unless you edit the applications.xml and o2-applications.xml files.

In terms of sizes, I used a variety over the several months I was playing with icons. To be honest, most are a rather clumsy with black borders round, but some are tidier as I refined my technique. Have a look at the ones it installs and go from there. I use Paint.NET as my editor of choice but each to their own. As they are *.png files, they don't 'change/highlight' as you press them, but I didn't consider that to be important.

It won't be relevant in a few weeks when o2 drop it, but the messaging app must have it's original icon.swf present on the desktop for the app to work properly, hence the additional icon in my PnP2.

Hope this helps!

You can also edit the icons to go with news feeds in the News app - again, they are just .png files.
