Opera Mobile 10.1 for Ubuntu

Post by dwl99 »

I've noticed that Chromium, Firefox & Opera make a lot of demands on the Joggler's titchy CPU & I have been experiencing CPU throttling due to overheating when using some graphics on flash-intensive sites (I raised the CPU thermal throttling threshold to 75 deg but haven't been brave enough to push it any further). As an alternative, you can download Opera Mobile at http://get.opera.com/pub/.custom/campaign/labs/20100421/OperaMobileLinux_35.deb

It's a lightweight version of Opera and much more finger-friendly than the full version. It won't do flash but I was getting so many lockups when using flash with the full-version browsers that I wasn't too bothered. Version 11 should be released quite soon too.

The version I've linked to opens in a portrait layout. To fix this, right-click on the Opera Mobile icon in the menu & send it to the desktop as a shortcut. Next, right-click the newly-created shortcut, select Properties and change the action from operamobile to operamobile -geometry 800x400

You can also use Opera's built-in sync function to back-up & restore your shortcuts & speed dial page.

Hi,

Is there a Opera Mobile 11.xx version available with flash support that we can use on your Joggler ?

Actually, I use 10.1 version but the lack of flash support is very bad :(

Thanks.
