Multiboot Boot on the Joggler
How-To Setup a Multiboot Boot on the Jogger!

you must have a usb keyboard plugged in to navigate the menu

Without a USB stick plugged in, you can only select the o2 os

the boot screen shows you four icons, one for the o2 Software, one for your USB linux, one for android and one for windows

Here we go:
This howto is in two parts the first part is getting refit on the joggler efi partition.
the second part is the the files on your usb stick, hard disk or whatever you use for the operating systems.

First part

1. Grab the following archive:
multiboot2.zip from link in first post

2. Upack the zip file in to a folder you need 600mb of space as it contains android as well as the multiboot files

2.5. unzip multiboot.zip onto a small fat32 formated stick


3. Insert stick into your usb hub with keyboard

4. Powerup the joggler

5. On booting, press several times "ESC" to stop autoboot. Now enter "fs1:boot" blindly and you should see refit coming up.

6. Choose the icon "EFI shell", press Enter, then ESC. within 5 secs

7. Now type: fs1: and press enter

8. Now type: cp -r .\* fs0:\

if asked to overwrite anything answer y and press enter

9. When finished type the following

bcfg boot add 01 fs0:\efi\refit\refit.efi "Refit"

This way, Refit is added to the internal (nvram) bootloader list. That's needed to have a working keyboard.

10. Type "bcfg boot dump" and look if Refit is located on top.

11. Type "exit"

That's it - Refit now should always load automatically.

Second part

the 500+ mb is the first partition on your multiboot stick or hard disk or ssd suggest 700mb

now would be a good time to setup your configs for your multiboot stick. these are in the folder /efi/grub there is one for ubuntu (ubun.cfg) and one for android (andd.cfg)
XP or 2003 don't need one refit boots it directly,this way you get the 496 meg memory
just means you can only have one or the other on a stick as you cannot change the active partition through refit.

Everything is customisable, just read about refit.

Refit doesn't replace anything really, its just a medium for running the .efi files.
XP still uses xoj-ntldr.

havn't tried a standard ntldr, I tried fake bios but that was a no go either.

Ah right i see, a standard ntldr booting would awesome no need for patched files means an ever so slight oncrease in booting an nt6 operating system( I'm looking at you vista and 7)

W7 booting off USB is easy peasy. The tools are all there, like PWBoot. Just that missing BIOS holding us back.

Thanks v muchly for this Mickchip it is very much appreciated writing up this guide.
It looks beyond my skills at the moment but i will give it my best shot before crying for help
Do you think a 16gb usb stick would be ok for this or would i be better off getting an external hdd.
Also do you think the keyboard and dongle off my acer revo 3610 would work or will i need a wired one ?
Sorry for all the questions but i am a bit new to all this ( creating a bootable image was an achievment )

You will need a wired keyboard there are no drivers for wireless until you have loaded an os
It's not that difficult really as long as you follow the instructions well, oh and you can use a 16gb stick
but it will be slow, thats what I developed it on but I now have a 16gb ssd usb stick and its way faster

Trying with two different USB keyboards. I've had a similiar issue before. I watch and the lights go on and off on the keyboards.

I keep hitting escape feverishly banging on the escape key. (think of a mad hatter here).

I blindly type

fs1:boot

and nothing happens. Just sits at the O2 screen. When I type blindly; I do see the activity light go on the USB stick. Nothing changes.

I wonder; is it me? is it the keyboard(s)? Is it the sunglasses? Is it the moon?

I had this problem with my keyboard, it was because mine boots up with numlock on and I was typing the wrong thing,
don't know if this is the case with yours.

You could also try typing fs1: then press enter then type boot and press enter

Yes, the NumLock key light lights up on both the keyboards.

Will give it another try.

It looks like its trying.

If I type fs1: and enter no usb stick LED blnks.

Once I type boot; the led blinks but no luck. I have the USB stick formatted to Fat32.

It will sit at an O2 screen or just boot into the O2 OS screen.

when you extracted multiboot2.zip to a folder there is another zip file in there called multiboot.zip that is the one you need to extract on to a small stick and insert in the joggler. Is that what you have done.

Yes thats right, I will try is myself on my third joggler just to make sure it works.

I think its me or my keyboards; cuz I've tried before with earlier EFI boot sticks and could never get to a prompt. I'll look for another USB keyboard.

Just found an HP Internet keyboard. Same results. This one has two usb ports on it.

Just done it on my other joggler and it works OK. So it must be your keyboard.

Is there some particular order or timing relating to when I hit the ESC key or when I type in the stuff?
