Space On Memory Stick

Just installed Joli OS to give it a try , put it on a 16gb memory stick ,how do I get to use the rest of the space should I partition before installing , can I resize it already installed or is it not possible to use the rest of the space and thats why folk are using 4gb sticks?

run http://joggler.exotica.org.uk/source/sc ... zebtrfs.sh on the device from an up to date linux distro or live cd. ubuntu oneiric for example.

boot into ubuntu oneiric via their install/live cd (or do it on the joggler booting from another stick)

open up a terminal and type

wget http://joggler.exotica.org.uk/source/sc ... zebtrfs.sh
chmod u+x resizebtrfs.sh
sudo ./resizebtrfs.sh /dev/sdX

where sdX is the device for the stick you just put in. you can see which device is the stick as after inserting it reading the end of "dmesg"

if this is still confusing, it might be worth not resizing it, and just making another partition on it with gparted which you could then use for storage.

I already used gparted to make another partition but , the new partition was not seen in windows

if you formatted it as fat32, and you can't see it, it might be due to too many primary partitions for windows to handle then. but then again you cant use the btrfs partition from windows anyway right? linux will be able to use the additional partition however.

Windows only see's the boot partition , I hoped I could just expand and use that , is that not possible then ?

maybe if you moved the other partitions to the top, and then resized it.

Left a little space then formatted the remainder to fat32, but playback in xbmc is very choppy ,is that likely to be down to the memory stick ? I've got another one on the way so I'll give that a go when I get it,
one other thing I cant get any volume control on xbmc , theme I'm using has a red flaming guitar in the background and I'm using Joli OS

did you adjust the throttle temp? if not, then I recommend you read in detail the info on the download page

try the xeebo skin, as its easier to adjust volume (top right).

Put in the throttle temp command , but how do I get it to stick , and is everyone on Joli OS doing this

those that don't have replacement cooling for the joggler likely do. to make it stick, just save the file you edited with that line in.

how do I do that , if I hit enter it just goes to the next line

if you are using nano from terminal on jolios, do ctrl+o, then enter. look at the bottom of the nano screen for the shortcuts. ^ means ctgrl. ctrl+g for help. alternatively you can edit the file on windows (its in the first readable partition).

well, i assumed you were following the instructions to edit the value from my page, that suggests to do

"sudo nano -w /boot/grub.cfg"

which in this case means "run as super user (sudo)" the editor nano, disabling word wrap, and editing the file /boot/grub.cfg

if you are going to use linux on the joggler, it might be worth installing to your pc too, so you can get used to how it works.
