Would be interested to hear from the first person who manages to brick their joggler even with the new shutdown option (probably talking about troublesome jogglers only here)
I have a theory that the new shutdown option will now solve this issue in a lot of cases

Will investigate. It may need a little tinkering or may even be useless!

Really not sure if it will or not but it's worth a go! I've had no failures so far (famous last words!).
It only uses the command
(the 3 gives rise to the 3 second delay which I just picked arbitarily).
Incidentally, I didn't add the icon by default so that 'little fingers' don't shut the Joggler down accidentally and unnecessarily as switch-offs should be kept to a minimum. Accessing the option through SWF Launcher->Shell is a little harder to do by mistake.

Help please.
Done all this:
1) Unzip the downloaded archive and copy all the files to a formatted USB stick .
Make sure any hidden files are copied.
2) Preferably make sure your Joggler is clean and connected to your network
(although connection shouldn't be required).
As of 14th June 2012 there is a brand new OpenPeak USB reflasher available to download
from
ftp://ftp.exotica.org.uk/pub/joggler/fi ... -14.img.gz
which should fix networking issues if you use PnP III v3.038 onwards.
3) Plug the PnP III USB stick into a updated Joggler.
3) Telnet into the Joggler via a computer. The username is root and there is no password.
but after I put in root it asks for a password.
No password I tried worked.

Sorry - forget my last post.
I had thought my joggler was post-update, but when I tried the pre-update method it worked perfectly.
Doh....

Yeah, should probably make the instruction headings clearer. I'll do this when I get a chance.

Thanks for your help.
In fact, i have 2 jogglers.
The first, in 3.045, works pefectly with WinSCP.
The second, that i updated in 3.48 last monday by usb (steps 3 to 7 of the Post OpenPeak updated Jogglers method) is impossible to connect with WinSCP (FileZilla too). I have this message : "Cannot initialize SFTP protocol. Is the host running a SFTP server?". Internet is OK (i listen the radios) and the simple webserver is available via my browser.

OK, I have tested two Jogglers running v3.048 here and they both let me in. Can you confirm what username and password you are using with WinSCP to try and access the Jogglers.

The username and the password are letmeinssh and joggler1234, like for my 1st joggler in 3.045 which works.

Was it installed over the top of a previous install or on a clean os. I've just installed it on a clean joggler and it's working. I may have a potential fix lined up though which i'll detail later.

It might be a silly question, but have you checked your IP address? Mine changed when I updated PnPIII. Just a thought.

Good point. It's certainly worth checking first. I've sat cursing telnet before realising that ip addresses of equipment had changed after a router restart!

Yes, i'm sure of my IP adress (i can connect with the simple webserver via my browser, and i can read the ip adress on my wifi routeur and via the settings of the joggler).
I installed over the top of a previous install (3.045), not on a clean os.

Oh. I thought you had to install on a clean joggler so i've been reflashing before updating.

That could be it then. I've never tried this so it could be the issue. It's probably turned it off again. My advice is always to start clean. Will still look for a fix though.

That's alright then!
Btw. Not sure when you added the quick guide thingy to the first page but I've only just seen it and wanted to say it's brilliant (even though I've only skimmed it for now) Not wanting to massage your ego too much

but I've always thought that your advice is clear to understand and I, for one, am really grateful when you give me step by step guides to do things I've never done before. Thank you!
I guess if anyone should get my chilli chocolate bar it should be you. Sadly for you, I'm selfish that way!
ps. I still think you should add an appendix to your guide with the step by step for installing the openpeak update which you have given on the forum. I thought it was excellent and I still refer to it! Of course it may be there already...as I said, I've only skimmed it
