Refit is working ok just changed the layout slightly, going to try the grub I compiled to see if I can get it to change the active partition so that we can have xp and 2003 on the same drive,
Here's the modules that are included the grub.efi that I posted ( part_gpt part_msdos ntfs ntfscomp hfsplus fat ext2 normal chain boot linux multiboot configfile parttool minicmd normal efi_gop search )

Mick, as you have a working efi grub2, can you see if adding a FAKEBIOS command to one of the XP boot entries allows you to boot with unpatched ntldr, ntcommand? It's not clear how much of a BIOS it loads or whether efi grub2 has to be compiled with the FAKEBIOS. The documentation says that it allows efi grub to chain load a bootloader that requires a BIOS to run.

I've not had as much time as I hoped to devote to Joggling these past few days.

looking forward to playing with your efi partition Mick! True Linux/windows multi-boot sounds good to me.

Will not be long now, I've noticed that my openpeak joggler boots to refit with a dark screen, while the o2 joggler boots to refit with a bright screen but you can customise refit to suit yourselves.
As soon as I have written the howto I will upload the efi partition and post the howto.

I think you would need an efi driver, I have a wetab tablet and it has an efi bios. It has no keys or buttons, uses the touch screen for navigating bios optins and selecting different OS.
I have dumped the evtouch driver and will try to convert it back to binary and load it from the joggler shell when I get time. ther may be other drivers that you can do the same with
who knows we may be able to use the touch screen for selection

Can we not use Grub's "usbhid.quirks=USB:ID:0x40" line to load Grub EFI with touchscreen support? I know it's not as pretty as rEFIt but would negate the use of a keyboard.

My jogglers are sitting at the post office so I cannot test myself but assume the Joggler touchscreen shows up as a USB device...

I guess I never got too much into computer games; but like old stuff; still have an old Atari 2600 around.

Kind of like history is a hobby of sorts for me.

My son has a computer gaming degree. I honestly didn't even know that one existed before he went to school....lol

Well the big difference is that everything else on the network was initialising at the same time as the Joggler. Why that would let the cabled cold boot work for you, I don't know. Perhaps there is something on your the network that is polling other network devices, or the switch or router they are all running off was still coming to life at that critical moment? Just a guess right now. I don't get the cold boot problem on the one joggler with a working NIC, the other with a USB adapter is booting OK too.

I wonder if it is a sensitivity to other network devices that stalls the cold boot.

unfortunately looks as though 2003 will need a hard drive/ssd, the fuller fat build just dont like the flash stick. its a bit slow on the stick

Thanks Mevi. Found one of the three Joggler & NICs to be on a UPS; where as the other two were not. I do have one application on the mothership that keeps a live status of all of the MAC addresses / IPs on the network and assigns varibles to them. Along with the magic packet delivery (which I do not utilize anyways). I did have one device (NAS) take and scramble the master browser table corrupting it until I shut it down and restarted it.

I happened to start the Ubuntu build off a stick, run my TS application and connect to the mothership last night. There is a substantial difference in the time to "live" noted between the wintel and the Ubuntu builds. I do though build the similiar or identical screens from one computer and deploy them to either Android, Linux or Wintel and the speed of deployment is the same on all three.

Dan, Personally as soon as I saw the availability of the USB SSD stick; I just decided that I would just utilize this stick (as big as it was anyways) for any of the Joggler builds.

I don't really know the totally number of the RW's on these sticks but did notice my Archlinux 2 stick Seagate Dockstar (and Sheeva Pink Pogo Plug) stuff did corrupt one of two sticks after maybe of about two months of running an application 24/7. The application though does backup the configuration every night to one of the two sticks (one being a Fat32 stick and the other is a EXT2). The applicaton ran fine though until I looked at the stick to DD it to an image. There it found only maybe 2-4 bad sectors.
