I do have another question re: XBMC. Even after installing NFS-Common I cannot get XBMC to connect using NFS. It can now browse the shares but will crash (without error in the logs or debug log!!) when trying to access the share. I have all of my iOS devices, Windows, OSX, and linux based headless XBMC server sharing the same sources file and thumbnails via nfs using advancedsettings.xml. When attempting to use this same profile on the included XBMC the GUI will not launch and the log stops at :Loading media sources from special://masterprofile/sources.xml

Do you happen to have any idea what the problem may be with NFS? This same problem occurred with your previous versions of Xubuntu and JoliOS as well so it's not new.

Thanks again.

Do you mind stating what changes you applied to XBMC or providing a patch? I can build locally if there's something specific required for the joggler.

dont need the vaapi one any more though. just the touchscreen. ive been meaning to make it less of a hack so it can be a config option in xbmc and then send it upstream. just been busy :)

well. emgd 1.14 + xserver 1.10 - no working vaapi
emgd 1.14 + xserver 1.9 working vaapi, and xbmc interface "felt" slightly quicker, but it also crashed twice. playing back on mplayer and in xbmc gui. I think ill keep the current release as so for now, and look into it later.

Well, cheers, Intel - what an anticlimax! ;)

worth noting, my small patch for making it compile on kernel 3.2 was still needed! and i had to add a similar fix to another file. oh dear. I have though the code wasn't that good (of the open source part) before and this thread re-enforced it - http://embedded.communities.intel.com/thread/5676

they did include part of his fix at least, but still corruption on fbdev.

i also noticed the version numbering on the closed source part is the same since a year+ so, only the kernel part has had any work I guess. the powervr closed source part is much the same.

Your new JoliOS works fabulously in everything that I threw at it. I just hate the interface :)

Quite surprised at the number of "unsolved" issues in http://download.intel.com/embedded/soft ... 445348.pdf and how very few they marked as fixed with 1.14

That's because everything is a "third party" issue and not theirs.. Ummm... Yeah..

I see when I booted mine today it came up with a window saying 12.04 upgrade is available. Did not click on anything. I just closed the window. Would that just bring you to the download page or would it actually update your system to 12.04?

it will update and then break horribly :)

But you can try an image from this thread to test if you want 12.04.

Ubuntu 12.04 Base/Server images - a cmdline version of ubuntu - with ubuntu-standard packages, net-tools, aptitude, openssh-server and joggler drivers. should be possible to "install xorg" and build your own environment from this also as the xserver stuff is pinned as it is on the desktop images. They are 2gb images rather than 4gb, to fit on smaller sticks and to be resized as needed.

http://joggler.exotica.org.uk/img/ubunt ... xt4.img.gz
http://joggler.exotica.org.uk/img/ubunt ... rfs.img.gz

ssh installed by default on these images with host ssh keys generated on first boot. (user/pass: joggler)

the other images are being updated now - package rollups as I did package up newer emgd in the end and and did some changes to the wireless driver and some other bits.

They will be released as new images on http://joggler.exotica.org.uk if there are no major issues.

Ah, nice! Are these taken from an Ubuntu Server install or built some other way (eg. debootstrap)?

Been playing with Joli OS - it's all working really well; been running it over the weekend and haven't bumped into anything nasty. :)

debootstrap - and then adding all the joggler config bits and extra packages (some mentioned above).

it may lack some packages from the actual ubuntu-server edition, but then many are not needed. it has everything that is required to log in via ssh and to install more though.

Glad Joli OS is working for you. Hopefully the new drivers wont make it any worse :)

I have just tested doing "sudo apt-get install --no-install-recommends lubuntu-desktop" to get a basic lxde install. that worked fine, so I hope this base image can be useful for those who want to "roll their own".
