Very odd indeed! Telnet in and try the following:

Code: Select all

cd /openpeak/gui/apps/o2_radio
wget -O icon.swf http://dl.dropbox.com/u/77534245/radio.png
That's done the trick. Thanks

You need to reflash first either with Roobarb's reflashing tool or personally I'd go for the Openpeak firmware update in the mentioned in the opening post of this thread. Then you can PnP!

I don't know how others have fared with the Openpeak update, but I ran Logitech Media Server on one Joggler and after a couple of weeks it stopped working; Squeezeplay couldn't load any of my plugins and rebooting didn't help. I'd never had problems running LMS on a pimped O2 Joggler (at least none that a reboot wouldn't fix) so I've gone back to the O2 / PnPIII combo as my Squeeze Server.

There used to be a "restart Squeezebox Server" option on gforums' original PnP version of Squeezeplay. I'm not sure how that function was implemented but it saved a lot of faffing about when plugins went missing from Squeezeplay and would probably have saved me yet another reflash/reinstall.

Incidentally, the O2 reflash / PnPIII install has an added advantage for beginners; they can both be run from a USB stick without remotely connecting by telnet / SSH. I know this can put some people off. I also noticed that O2 messaging has finally bitten the dust (... a minute's silence...)

v3.041 uploaded as of now - only change is to update to roobarb's Squeezeplay v1.49 (which you can update to via Squeezeplay anyway so don't reinstall just for this!). Please consider donating at birdslikewires.co.uk if you find roobarb's work useful!

Hello. Quick question - if at any point I wanted to update to any new version of PNPIII can I do this on top of the installed version or would I have to reflash first? Ta.

Ps. Still loving this... will also be trying out the external usb sound card - as suggested by Gegs in the Squeezeply OS thread - to get a bit more sound out of it. Never knew this kind of device existed!

Not sure - With my PnP Mk II I know this worked. I've not tried it with PnP III though!

Hmm, interesting. When the time comes I think I will take the reflash route unless anyone else has a success story. Cowardly perhaps... ;)

In which case, if you ever get to that stage, just try it anyway! It might save you a process!

I updated Squeezeplay this evening and really didn't like the new icon which came with the update. So thanks loads for the previous post of 'titivated' icons which I was able to install easy peasy following the instructions. Cheers!

I've decided to change the Weather app icon (shown above). It should now be the default one in PnP III v3.041 (as of 1st July 2012 11:30).

To change it on your PnP III, telnet in and type:

Code: Select all

cd /openpeak/gui/apps/op_weather
mv icon.swf iconold.swf
wget -O icon.swf http://dl.dropbox.com/u/77534245/weather.png
killall tango
If you find it's not to your liking you can restore the original PnP III one with:

Code: Select all

cd /openpeak/gui/apps/op_weather
rm icon.swf
mv iconold.swf icon.swf
killall tango

I've also decided to change the Twitter shortcut icon (shown above). To try it out for yourself telnet in and type:

Code: Select all

cd /media/gforums/webserver/starter/twitter
mv twitter.png twitter.old
wget http://dl.dropbox.com/u/77534245/twitter.png
killall tango
I've made it the Twitter shortcut from now on in PnP III v3.041

Doing great here with your update offbeatdave. Never did get O2 OS update (which is good).

I've updated three Jogglers with most current PnP III and all doing fine here. I can get to some of the radio stations but not all of them; none the less I am using TVersity to stream the internet radio stuff.

Been playing with xapFlash lately and still attempting to get VNC to work on stock OS Joggler.

Hi Pete - what radio stations can't you receive? Is it the Radio app or Squeezeplay you're using? I know that some of the Windows Media stations won't work in Squeezeplay without MPlayer being installed. It's not so easy to add on the stock OS because of the lack of apt-get functionality.

roobarb's Squeezeplay OS now has Mplayer installed by default and if you install LMS on it (an option in the Advanced Settings) you can play Windows Media streams. I'm having a bit of trouble with the Spotify plugin on Squeezeplay OS but if you don't need that, everything else is truly awesome.

Squeezeplay is fantastic and is great for almost all of my listening needs!

However...

...I'm currently listening to BBC WM on the Lounge app - Coventry Bees speedway team are leading Birmingham Brummies...(Oh yes! Come on the Bees!)...

...scores and scorers are being updated via Opera browser, accessed in a total of three presses via my custom shortcut icon on the desktop...

...AND I've just had a mug of frothy coffee and a slab of Galaxy served to me!

Joggling doesn't get any better than this! :D

Show off! :D Lounge radio used to be a little erratic for me pre update (absolute radio audio would just disappear after 20 minutes or so although the system would tell me it was playing). Post update and after PnPIII said radio application causes blacking out of the screen so I never use it. I'm particularly jealous of the chocolate but prefer cadbury's myself...
