Sorry if I am being stupid, but I am on the post update.
I have downloaded the file and extracted to a USB stick.
Put the usb stick into the joggler, and then gone to command in windows and typed in telnet *then my IP* (How will telnet already be installed on a clean new build, is that why it's not working?...what have I missed?
I keep getting "Could not open connections to the host on port 23"
What am I doing wrong?

Hi,
As noted earlier, there are reports that Telnet is disabled on the most recent updates. On the first versions of the update (over the air and via a usb installer) it was enabled by default. The USB update installer (that we've had to remove until it is re-issued) even said: Enabling Telnet (username was root).

I had exactly the same problem and offbeatdave helped me through it! I had to reflash my Joggler back to the OpenPeak installation, which allowed me to then use Telnet to connect to it and load the PnP III installation. I also had issues finding a USB drive which worked properly, as every time I tried to cd to the /mnt/files folder it failed - but that was just down to the USB stick in the end and by using the same one I had used for the OpenPeak re-install it worked perfectly.
Definitely worth persevering, as you get all of 'proper' Joggler functions back that were robbed when they pushed out the update.

Do you mean you can't connect via telnet or the web-connecting apps in the os don't work? Check out the thread for connection issues too.

It cant connect to the internet so iplayer and the webrowser dont work.
I put the settings in manual and that allowed it to connect.
IS there anyway of getting dchp working again ? THis is brilliant in that it restores all the lost functionality (o2 basically made it not worth using any more with their update) if I could only get it connected again.

No fix for broken dhcp yet. Are you working by putting in settings manually? If so I wouldn't worry about dhcp not working.

Great enhancement offbeatDave!
Still on original FW and PnP III here. Radio is now working fine these days. Earlier issue was that many of the radio stations were playing at an accelerated rate and had some buffering issues; now these issues are gone.
I hear no pops or clicks with audio streaming from radio application. Relating to utilizing Tversity & radio streaming. Initially it didn't work; then changed transcoding set up and its working fine (but get some pops and clicks). Relating to time; redid the NTP configuration file such that Joggler receives NTP broadcasts to internal network NTP server and all is fine. Default for primary DNS is 8.8.8.8; even with manual static configuration wouldn't change; so changed it manually to local firewall as a primary DNS and 8.8.8.8 and a secondary DNS.
Adding xap flash interface to mix as I currently have numerous devices receiving and broadcasting xap variables, events, et al.

EDIT 14th JUNE 2012 - THE NEW OPENPEAK REFLASHER FROM
THIS POST SHOULD FIX DATE/TIME/CONNECTION/TELNET ISSUES IF YOU ARE WANTING TO RUN THE OPENPEAK VERSION
Edit 2: Hmm, it appears PnP III may break it again!
Edit 3: And I might have worked out why...
Edit 4: ...or not...
Edit 5: ...or perhaps I might have...
Edit 6: OK, so I've narrowed it down to either the webserver, updated busybox, brightness setting stuff from the original P'n'P in the webserver or ssh/scp enabling as disabling all of these leaves Networking OK...
Edit 7: OK, it's not the webserver, ssh/scp access as these leave networking OK so that narrows it down to the updated busybox or the old brightness setting stuff from the original P'n'P...
Edit 8: It looks like it's the different busybox that kills it...just confirming now...

I can now confirm that it was the updating of busybox in PnP III that broke the fixed Networking from the new OpenPeak reflasher. PnP III v3.038 is now uploading and fixes this issue by reverting to the standard busybox on the Joggler.

So is PnP is safe to use with the latest Openpeak image?

Hi! Just finished uploading. As far as my tests this evening go, yes!
I reflashed with the latest image and set up wireless networking automatically, without inputting anything manually (other than my network key). The new reflash seems to pick up the network fine (date/time has failed once when I was hammering the connection uploading the PnP III image).
I have just finished reflashing again with the latest PnP III v3.038 and all seems to be working wirelessly (connection/date/time) without me having to put in any network settings manually!
Go for it and report back!

Just a quick reminder that to install pnp III you need to download the zip file, which is around 100Mb and unzip it to a usb stick. It unzips to around 140Mb off the top of my head.

Flashed with the new Openpeak file and installed PnPIII v3.038 - Very impressed! Wifi and time/date etc all working perfectly. Many thanks to offbeatdave and also Buzz, roobarb, spoyser and everyone else involved. Even O2 came good in the end although they could of helped themselves by consulting the experts on here before the breakaway!? My Jogglers live on !!

I installed PnPIII over the new Openpeak update. It's great, although I haven't tried everything yet. However, the uPnP application doesn't play any video files from my NAS. Not really a biggie for me, but it might be for some people.
Add a GMail icon to PnP III

If you fancy an icon to get you into your GMail account (via Opera), telnet in and enter the following:
Code: Select all
wget http://dl.dropbox.com/u/77534245/installgmail.sh
sh ./installgmail.sh
rm -r ./installgmail.sh
It'll be incorporated in the next release of PnP III by default. Then you can move/remove it or the Hotmail icon if you wish.

Glad to hear reports that the current version is working with the new OpenPeak reflasher.
I've just uploaded v3.039, which adds the GMail icon (links to GMail via Opera browser). If you are running v3.038 (or indeed earlier versions), this can be added with the instructions just above this post so don't reflash the whole thing just for this.
That should just about do for my tinkering with PnP III for now!

Just wanted to say thanks to offbeatdave for these tweaks. I've just installed v3.038 over this week's O2/OP image - and it's all working well
