Dan,

Good news about the update.

Not so good news about the Joggler; hopefully its just a PS thing.

I have some PS's here too that I will not be using. I can send you one.

BTW it's a bit odd but found Open Peak US power supplies here new in the same box as the UK Joggler ones came in; discounted by a discount electronic house.

Looking at the quoted specs, the 8GB SSD is slightly slower than the flash drive I have now. The 16GB SSD is about 50% quicker. Perhaps the limited specs don't tell all and I'm missing out.

So far testing the 8 Gb USB SSD in "production" I don't notice lags / bursts of stuff that I noticed with the flash drive. But that might be me.

To me how it worked was beneficial to the countless of a variety of memory sticks that I tried / used from 4-16GB. It seems to perform on par with the 1.8" 30Gb microdrive that I have been testing with.

I only ordered 8 Gb sticks which I hope to be getting in the near future. There were two sources on Ebay; one direct and one reseller in California. The price difference was neglible.

Thanks pete,

Looking at the top end flash sticks, like the Kingston USB 3 stick - the speeds on USB2 are around 30MBs read and write, compared to 80MBs USB 3. Price is about comparable to the kingspec, but I think I'll go with what I know works for others on the Joggler. Cheers.

Most if not all of the memory sticks that I have tried have worked fine with the Joggler. Some boot all the time and some do not. I have a similiar issues with my Sheevaplus running Uboot to boot external USB sticks. Some work all the time and others do not. Sometimes I have to telnet to the base running pogoplug and reboot so that it sees the USB stick. That said been using (looking at my desk) HP mini 4GB sticks, Kingston Data Traveler G3 and Sandisk SD to micro SD with a 16Gb microSD card. This morning playing with a SanDisk 8 Gb cruzer. It'll boot fine from the side port but not from a USB hub; still playing though.

I hoped the Lexar stick I have was quick enough for W2003 as it really is tiny. Barely big enough to grip it to remove it, like the Bluetooth adapters I've seen. I would have been happy to vnc in when needed.... Maybe with the next build it'll be acceptable so I can ditch the hub and keep things tidy.

I have successfully gotten the page file onto a different USB stick. Once i've disabled the page file on the boot disk and set it up on the 2nd stick, i reboot. I start the next boot with just the xp USB stick in the hub. At the point where the scrolling text is prompting 'press enter', I put in the page file USB stick. Then, after the crcdisk.sys has done it's thing and the screen begins re-drawing, I put in the keyboard/mouse dongle.

No change to the boot up times, but seems more responsive in use. I'm running a portable firefox browser from the 2nd USB stick, which starts and loads pages quicker than Chrome off the boot drive. Downloaded that from portableapps.com.

Mevi,

Did you go with a static or dynamic page file? Did you go with MS recommended size or change it?

I made it a static size.... I don't know if there is an optimum size, so I just made the page file 1024- double the physical memory. Seems good.

Same here.

Right on the bottom the same page is the MS recommended size of 7XX MB or so.
