Yup; here near Chicago it was a pleasant sunny day; warm enough to put all of my Christmas decorations outside plus add a few more MR-16 4 watt 4-5 cree style LED lamps outside. Been converting all of my halogen to LED lighting (low voltage landscaping).

Meanwhile looking forward and anticipating what "brews" are coming forth from Dan, Mevi and mickchip. Personally I am in no rush as so far what's been done works great on the 3 Jogglers that I am currently playing with. Yes the focus and the draw is Wintel on the Joggler; first introduced here by Dan (worldwide recognition you know).....all eyes are watching with awe as these guys do their magic.....and its really the end results that matter; not how long it takes.

Morning Pete. Do you think you could send me a copy of your CarPC fronted when you get a chance if you don't mind?

Thanks!

Yes; will break it up into pieces and put it here. I think I have the source code for it too; if you are interested in it?

I'll have a release out tomorrow, I hope. Problems since a windows update has made it run like treacle, so I'm going back to a backup I made before I started it. I may just select the security patches and see if that still runs ok. The audio driver needs attention. I found that the last build, plugging in headphones doesn't mute the speakers

Some nice improvements made otherwise that I think you will like.

+ 1 for the car pc front end pete will look forward to having a look at that.
I use XBMC exclusively at home for HTPC purposes so have followed those forums for years, a great little voice control add on to xp called vox commando (google xbmc jitter james for you tube vids ) controls xbmc beautifully, the car would be an ideal enviroment for this, but dont know if its been tried.
You have to see it working to get what i mean, it didnt work on linux last time i looked so i havn't given it much thought with regards to the joggler but now with these xp builds hmmmmmm ........

Here the links for the software. I can't find the source right now; archived somewhere.

I wanted something simple and functional Originally was using a VIA Epia box. (slow).

The source code used to be posted and I do remember downloading a couple of years back.

Have a look a the modules; kind of plug n play. Note though it was written primarily to speak to the BMW legacy IBus.

I did a quick search and did find some stuff here.

I'm sure I added a reply to this thread earlier..... hmmm, where's it gone?

Anyway, another delay while i thoroughly soak test this mutha, overnight. More bad news is that while it is running perfectly good on a HDD, something in the mix of new stuff, perhaps the tablet components, has meant that there's a big perfomance hit on a flash drive. I can't wholeheartedly recommend FlashFire to cache disk writes yet. If you're on a hub, you can put a fixed size page file and other bits and bobs on a second flash drive (with no active partitions) to greatly improve performance. If you intend to use your Joggler to host files on a HDD to be streamed to other devices like XBOX/PS3 and/or a uTorrent dedicated machine, then boot this off the HDD. I'll have the build configured for tversity, uTorrent, etc. straight out of the box.

As Dan is working on a build that will be running lean for maximum performance, those that want to use a flash drive will be better off waiting for his build.

Seems one of my flash sticks is faulty as flashing a much 'slower' stick gave much better performance. I'd go so far as to say, if you have a fast stick, you might be ok if you turn off the theme.

I am uploading both img and vhd versions of build 2 to my Joggler S3 Bucket, currently at 14%. Look out for a revised 1st post with new download links tomorrow am.

Yeah, totally over the top..... no glitter unicorns available. :D

Dan, PM me an address and I'll post you a DVDR. Also, for the help you've given us all, I'll send the ZIPAD there too as an early Xmas gift.

I picked up a XBOX 360 HD-DVD drive for £5.99 plus postage. Once the drivers for the drive and the HD-DVD file system are in, it's good. Bigger and heavier than the ZIPAD and it can't write disks, but it's solid and feels like the £150.00 original price!!

Boot problems for them both with XP, however. The Joggler Linux builds using grub EFI boot fine, but XP using XOJ or XOJ-NTLDR doesn't work. Perhaps Mickchip's multi boot method will do the job, but I've not tried anything beyond editing boot.sh and startup.sh.

Mevi wrote: Outstanding problems - Fixes and updates in BOLD:
  • Some Jogglers may not start the NIC device (error 10). Unsure why, but I have one Joggler that reports the same hardware as the other, but no NIC. WIFI works and USB to Ethernet adaptors are really cheap and the Belkin one I have works well on a hub with a usb stick. Unable to resolve this for Build 2. Might be firmware, and there's no true DOS for Joggler to flash it.
:?: Occasionally, people report that their display is offset. Switching between screen resolutions fixed that problem for them. Not observed on my Jogglers
 A new problem I have found is that the headphone socket does not mute the speakers. Both are on at the same time. SigmaTel have gone out of business, so resolving this might take a while. I'm still investigating options as this also affects the Macbook Pro running XP via Bootcamp
I found that if you remove the wifi adapter, the nic stops working. If you re-connect it, and then set the mac on the nic, it eventually starts working again. And if you remove the wifi it stops working again. :?

I think this is because the GMA500 has two active outputs. If they end up being overlayed, or cloned then they mess up.

The STAC handles the socket, it's probably worth looking at the IDT drivers, and also the sound settings in the registry.

Thanks Noodles. :)

I'd removed the WLAN adapter from one of the Jogglers, which didn't have a working NIC in Windows, anyway. I hadn't tried it on the other Joggler. I seem to remember Pete puts an SSD on the internal USB without a problem.

I've been all over the audio registry settings - I think it's in there somewhere as that's where the Macbook problems lay.

I'm hoping I can release a fix that doesn't require a complete rebuild.
