I have just installed this version and going OK (run simply off the USB) but the music is coming from both my internal speaker and my stereo. Is this normal and any thoughts on a fix? The stereo is just connected via line out and the hardware is an o2 joggler.
Thanks

Cheers Offbeetdave, however this states "auto-switching between internal speakers and the headphone jack on the OF2" where I have an OF1 (o2 Joggler). I might be being a bit basic here but I have never SSH'd so a bit nervous to make sure I do it correctly.

If you haven't sussed it by tonight I look at what I did to mine (unless anyone wants to jump in and post which setting to select). alsamixer thing definitely works though as I did it on my Joggler running sqpOS2!

Re: SqueezePlay OS (Version 2) for OpenFrame
Honestly, don't worry about it. SqueezePlay barely stresses the processor at all. If it were to get to 80 degrees, you'd probably notice some slowdown in the UI response, but I have a Joggler with no stand that I've had playing 720p video for ages and it just never gets to that temperature.mikeywilliams wrote:Just got one of the ex-betting shop jogglers without stands and SqueezeplayOS is working wonderfully on it.
The removed stand may cause some overheating - opinions differ as to how much cooling the stands actually achieve. My question is as to under what conditions SqueezeplayOS is likely to stress the processor - and what the noticeable effects of overheating would be - sound stuttering or what?

Many thanks for the information.
It has been running with absolutely no problems for over a week now.
Terrific work!

Has Airplay been sorted with v2? I know that it is available as an option for installation but does it actually work?
I've got a V1 sqpOS Joggler that is recognised by my iPad and a V2 Joggler that isn't, even though I've installed and enabled Airplay on both.

It is sorted... but in v2.06, which I've not released yet.gegs wrote:Has Airplay been sorted with v2? I know that it is available as an option for installation but does it actually work?

I think I'll get chance to put it out tomorrow, as I've had test versions running well for a little while. One thing I don't think will make it in is the 'Enhanced Digital Output' stuff. I can't get it to work reliably in variable situations - in fact, I'm having difficulty making it work at all. That's one for another thread, though.
There are a couple of other tweaks that need to go in and be tested, but v2.06 isn't far off. I'm much happier with it than the earlier v2 releases.

Re: SqueezePlay OS (Version 2) for OpenFrame
Thanks roobarb. I've just set a up Joggler for my brother-in-law which acts as a server and controller for three real squeezeboxes and he's very pleased with the system. We installed Airplay but couldn't get it working, now I know why. l can hardly wait for the new release.
Thanks again for your efforts.

Re: SqueezePlay OS (Version 2) for OpenFrame
Another version is up!
v2.06 (12th February 2014)
Kernel 3.10.29op1, overlay v1.55.
SqueezePlay for Joggler v1.55.
Added FUSE and Coda FS support into the kernel.
Tweaks to boot scripts to enable OpenFrame type to be quickly read by other software.
Reintroduced AirPlay support via Shairport v1.00; components now installed by default.
Removed resolvconf and configured dhclient to append some sensible DNS servers to /etc/resolv.conf.
For those that have been waiting for the releases to settle down a bit, I think this is probably a good point to jump on board. So far as I can tell, I've fixed all of the things that really needed work in this release. AirPlay support is back and the problems with DNS servers are fixed (some software called resolvconf, which isn't present in Lucid, was a bit over-enthusiastic and has been removed).
For those that are uncertain about how these things work, the OS releases (such as this one) require you to download and reflash either your USB stick or internal memory. Updates to SqueezePlay itself will appear through Settings > Update on all platforms and don't need a whole new OS.
If you're using any previous release of v2, I'd highly recommend that you take the opportunity to upgrade to v2.06.

Excellent! Does this include wilberforce's amixer applet or will i need to add it myself (or is it no longer necessary?). Cheers!
Re: SqueezePlay OS (Version 2) for OpenFrame
Hi Roobarb,
I am running v2.04 on one of my jogglers. However, when I go to settings->Update to update to v2.06, it says that it is running v1.54 and v1.55 is available? Is this a known issue and is there a quick fix rather than having to reflash the USB stick again, as I have made some tweaks since I installed it.
(It's definitely a v2 OS release as it is on 12.04 precise.)
Cheers,
John

Re: SqueezePlay OS (Version 2) for OpenFrame
Upgraded via new usb - mixed reactions. Wifi very flaky - keeps dropping the connection. Overall the whole setup seems very much slower - scanning took ages after I'd installed the latest LMS.
Now, all this may be down to the usb stick I used - I may try again with a different stick.

Re: SqueezePlay OS (Version 2) for OpenFrame
Operating system releases, i.e. going from v2.04 to v2.06, are always going to be 'reflash-and-start-again' jobs by their nature. I'm never going to have the time to make something that can reliably upgrade from any previous OS to the newest, so much better to have a solid base to work from. Having said that, with v2 being a new release, there've been more OS updates recently than I would have liked. But then, adopt early, love change!johnnygal wrote:I am running v2.04 on one of my jogglers. SQPOS v2.06 contains SqueezePlay for Joggler v1.55. Each update to SqueezePlay itself (not the underlying OS) can be handled in a reasonably sensible manner without having to reflash - and this is across 45 different Ubuntu-based or OpenPeak operating systems that it has been running under on the Joggler (really - so long as my update server stats are correct).
So, in short, you can upgrade to SqueezePlay for Joggler v1.55 on your SQPOS v2.04 system just fine via Settings > Update - though you won't gain working AirPlay or anything else that was fixed in the OS release. Just like you can run a later iTunes on OS X v10.6, but it won't give you the iCloud features that only appeared in OS X v10.7, as an example.

No changes to wifi in this release - all the same - and certainly nothing that would make it run slower. The finger of suspicion points to your USB device, I'm afraid.castalla wrote:Upgraded via new usb - mixed reactions. Wifi very flaky - keeps dropping the connection. I think you're probably correct! I retired this particular usb a while ago as it did seem 'cranky' .... I'll try with a different stick next week.

Hehe - if I gathered them all together I must have a mountain of cranky USB sticks!castalla wrote:I think you're probably correct! I retired this particular usb a while ago as it did seem 'cranky' .... I'll try with a different stick next week.

Ok, cheers. I didn't appreciate it was an OS release. I thought you were maintaining 2 versions of squeezeplay. Re: SqueezePlay OS (Version 2) for OpenFrame
Aye, except I'm not maintaining SQPOS v1 any more - though I don't expect to break anything with any future SqueezePlay releases. Even SQPOS v1 is newer and more flexible than the OpenPeak OS and I can't see myself being able to drop support for that any time.johnnygal wrote:Ok, cheers. I didn't appreciate it was an OS release. It doesn't, but only because I just learned about it! Taking a look now and I don't see any reason it shouldn't pop up in v1.56, so long as wilberforce is happy with that.ilovemyjoggler wrote:Excellent!
