As it happens, I've recently started to get into hacking up Android stuff. I've been tinkering with one of our Nexus 7's and am now faffing around with a Justop K9B Android TV stick. Disappointed with the resolution of the Google Play apps for iPlayer and ITV Player, I've been tinkering with XBMC but have run into issues with External Players and streams not playing. If only I knew anyone who was an XBMC expert...

Best of luck-- l feel sure you will soon be the xbmc expert everyone will be turning to.

Since you mentioned XBMC, is it possible to have Xbmc on a usb drive and launch it from a shortcut in pnp iii. In this way no internal storage will be needed....

Afraid not. It needs running via a Linux distro or its own custom Linux distro elsewhere on this forum.

BTW, I solved my TV stick quality issues. Details in my Offtopic thread.

I have noticed a new problem with iPlayer. If you play anything for more than about 5 minutes, the exit button on the top right causes the joggler to reset and it shows the OpenPeak logo and then it's back to the main Joggler menu screen. To watch another program you have to re-launch the iPlayer app.

Am I the only one with this issue?

If memory serves me correctly, it has to 'kill' the Openpeak 'desktop' to work properly.

This didn't happen in the old version though?

Which old version? The only changes to iPlayer in PnP were in June to fix the On Demand function but live streams weren't touched. Apart from this and a podcast fix ages and ages ago the app hasn't changed since about May 2012. It could be to do with the BBC's own swf player I suppose. :?:

Hello. I wonder if anyone can help with this.

I've been listening to free audio books from here: http://www.booksshouldbefree.com

They do a streaming service as well as downloadable mp3 chapters. I thought it would put my bedside joggler to great use if I could stream via the web browser on PnP III. Whilst I can get into the website with no problems, the streaming service that I use on my phone doesn't appear as an option on the joggler. So I thought perhaps I could download 1 chapter at a time and listen that way. I have to select a location for the download to save to so I've been choosing the 'media' folder from the drop down list. Download seems to be successful. But that's as far as I get. I have no idea how to locate and listen to the download. I've had a look in 'Music'- just in case as an mp3 it can be accessed from there but I can't see it. Is this something that should be possible? Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers! :)

Do you have a NAS? There is a media player on the Joggler that can stream from SMB network shares. It's pretty basic but it works.

I have tried mp3 on a usb stick in pnp and it worked fine, you could download the mp3s as a zip using the desktop download option and unzip them to a usb key.

Yes, before I took the plunge with SQPOS I used to listen to my music by just sticking my music usb in the joggler. Very simple.
However, for this purpose I would have really liked to just press a button like I do on my phone (lazy I know). I was really hoping it would work on the joggler in a similar way or with minimum shananigans. I do wonder why it doesn't stream directly from the website though.

The streaming player on booksshouldbefree uses jQuery. Browser compatibility depends on whether jQuery 1.x or 2.x has been used. Both of these versions should support the current and the previous version of Opera but I'm not sure if the Joggler version of Opera Mobile supports JavaScript at all. If it does, check whether it is enabled in the settings.

I confess to only using Opera on the Joggler for the odd email and to check BBC news, so I'm not too familiar with the inner workings.

Thanks gegs. Had a look through the settings and there was nothing obvious there. I guess it's not supported which is such a shame. Ta anyway though. :)

I seem to remember that in the dim and distant past, in order for one of my Jogglers to access a mp3 file I hadn't copied from a USB stick (I'd transferred via WinSCP I think) I had to copy something from a USB stick via the Music application. As if by magic the originally transferred mp3 appeared. Therefore you could try saving your file as you described, then copy a small mp3 from a USB stick in the Music app and see if the saved mp3 appears.

Or (if it is working properly/as I intended) you could pop a USB stick in the Joggler, use the Mount writable USB shortcut and then try saving your mp3 files to mnt (which is the location of the USB stick) from the browser instead of the Media folder. They might then appear in the Music app on the USB stick.

OBD, method above works beautifully. Thank you. Again! A point to note for anyone who's interested - the files don't show up until the usb is removed and reinserted.

In a browser on your PC goto 192.168.10.40:9000 and click settings in the bottom right corner, then on the default general tab in there settings there's an option for "Media Library Name"

Alternatively this link should take you straight there
