I've just tweaked the install instructions to try and reduce ambiguity!

Fancy testing LMS 7.8 in PnP III?

v3.33 with LMS 7.8 installed is now available if anyone is feeling brave! :?

It seems to work. Get it from here.

I have attempted to do an update for previous versions too. It's a Telnet/Putty in job to try at your own risk...

Code: Select all

#STOP CURRENT LMS
killall perl

#ADD NEW LMS
cd /media/gforums/apps
wget http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/77534245/Updates%20and%20Fixes/logitechmediaserver.tgz
tar xvf logitechmediaserver.tgz
rm -r logitechmediaserver.tgz

#RESTART LMS
/media/gforums/apps/logitechmediaserver/slimserver.pl --daemon
Good luck! ;)

Thanks. Not had time to do today but defo will try it tomorrow. Still in confusion with PnP III files. Should I extract them to the same USB key as PnP img or do I need separate USB. If it's the first option, then can I put those files the first time installation of PnPIII or need to be after first boot.

You don't put the PnP zip on the USB, just the files from the PnP zip. You'll soon be tinkering like a pro!

Slight reorganisation

Ive just been doing a little bit of re-organising of my files.

The current release (now v3.33) should always be available from the first post without me needing to faff around with links and the opening post. I've moved the changelog location too, although attempting to access the old link should tell you where to find the new version.

For now v3.32b is also still available here in case LMS 7.8 proves to be unstable.

All running fine and keeping wife more in kitchen  . Now how do I remove unwanted apps/games? Can I telnet and use rm command?? if yes can someone give an example pls. On to shx file, is it just to comment out the lines for apps (or delete the lines) that I don't want?? But if I go that route, do I need to begin from everything incl. openpeak FW install or just install of PnPIII files??

Thanks.

Current version is now v3.33b

I think you're better to leave everything on but move the apps you like most to the first page. Hold your finger over an icon and a dialogue comes up asking if you want to move or remove. I would suggest just moving things; apps that I never thought I'd use have come in handy once in awhile. I don't use the games but my kids have got some fun from them.

I'd agree with the above - less likely to mess up the Joggler!

However, there are instructions somewhere on the forum for editing the two applications.xml files on the Joggler. It is easy to do via a programme called WinSCP and can also be done via telnet. I'll have a look later if I get a chance and eventually get it in the quick start instructions and first post.

It might be somewhere on the wiki too, although it can be tricky finding stuff on there.

wow....this should be on first page. Thanks.

I managed to remove few apps/games using telnet but yeah above would've made life much easier. Now how do I remove empty "pages"? Now am I asking too much :o

Edit: I'll go through the thread to see if I can find any instructions.

I can't imagine why you'd need to, as long as any empty pages are at the end - just don't scroll that far. If, for example, your empty page was page two out of three, just move all the apps from page three to page two as detailed in my earlier post.

Some are in the /openpeak/gui/applications.xml file on the non-OpenPeak updated Joggler.
The rest are in /media/appshop/applications.xml (I think from memory).
Thanks found. These worked to remove icons by putting on comments plus no more empty pages. Can't find entry for "Five in a Row" though.

Edit:
Bug on joggler's webserver 10min timeout setting which sets to 30mins.

Opening post, line three:
If you are a new Joggler user, check out a simple Quickstart Guide here.
Quickstart guide, page two:
You can move apps around by long-pressing an app icon and selecting Move. You will then be able to move any app around. Press exit to confirm your changes. Although there may be a Delete or Remove option, most apps cannot be removed or deleted.
;)

Glad to see you've found your way around these great little gadgets!

Wow! No one has ever reported that - it has been like that since the days of the original gforums PnP over 2 years ago! Nice one!

Having just had a quick look during lunch, it does actually set for 10 minutes but tells the user that it has set for 30 minutes. Good spot and thanks.

I'll try and get it updated in v3.33c tonight if time permits.

Current version is now v3.33c

Current version:
v3.33c (1st July 2013)
Corrected message when setting timeout to 10 minutes in Webserver (thanks to Joggly for pointing this out).

Keeping the O2 clock on permanently (Bright)

The answer is somewhere here as I was previously able to keep the O2 clock on permanently (and "bright") when using it as the screensaver. Now, after recent 3.33c update) it dims after a certain length of time no matter how much I play with the delay timer. Not certain if I have to do something special or am being as dim as the clock !!

Any help much appreciated

Have you disabled dimming in (I think) Settings->Screensavers on the Joggler, not the Webserver?

Thanks for quick response but nothing in settings or tools re disabling dimming. Having said that, it's going to be something simple like that if I managed to do it a year or so ago when I first made the move to PnP.

Your stamina amazes me and I'm sure the entire Joggler community would agree that your enthusiasm is beyond belief. Does any other "computer-related" activity also grab your attention in the same way?

O2 clock

Forgot all about the Webserver -- it's an option there. I knew it was something simple. Thanks once again
