Hi people,
Just set my Joggler up on XP.. but to use the wireless and my securirty software it checks the date and time.. and every time I pull the plug / usb from the joggler I have to reset the time and date every time. Its weird as the core Joggler software is holding its date. Anyone know if there is a something I am doing wrong... I would of thought there must be some kind of CMOS battery in the unit like a PC but as windows is not designed for this .. I am guessin windows can not connect to some of the other core comments of the joggler.
How has everyone else got around this or do you lot just leave it plugged in and piowered up ready to be used?
Anyone know the power consumption of this?

Thanks Buzz.. I thought this was the case.. my Tiny Xp build isn't working 100% and a few too many services have been turnewd off so time server isn't working.. also its lost its genuine some hwo.. so im guessin MS are blockin the update.. wil try my personal key...
Re: Joggler with windows XP - Loosing date + time
You should be able to re-enable w32time unless it's based on one of the minimal tiny versions. The full fat versions have a folder called experience that has .reg files to enable or disable services... Default, lite, maniac, etc. if you edit those so that the entry for w32time is set to 00000002, then you can chop and change as you like. Note that in my builds I set up a sheduled task to pick up the time from the time server after log on as I found it sometimes needed a prod to pick up the time.

Re: Joggler with windows XP - Loosing date + time
I thought tiny xp uses a corporate xp key and so shouldn't fail wga. I turned off windows updates for mine, so haven't experienced that. Perhaps the current wga check is more thorough than it used to be?

Re: Joggler with windows XP - Loosing date + time
well Tiny Xp is rather old.. and even though Microsoft have stopped supporting XP I am guessing they are constantly improving the checks... Not a problem I have some private keys from OEM laptops .. WGA check now genuine and its now letting the time update ... Was looking around for some software that will update the date as well.. as as soon as I turn it off it looses date and time... prehaps ill just leave the bugger on!
Re: Joggler with windows XP - Loosing date + time
tclock has an option to update the time from a server. It's on my build (I only used it to include the date/time on the system tray), but google search will find that for you.

Re: Joggler with windows XP - Loosing date + time
Do any chips on the board have RTC functionality that isn't being used due to not having a battery? Or could the time be read on startup from a separate RTC over USB or I2C?
Re: Joggler with windows XP - Loosing date + time
Well I run a w32time update command line in windows scheduled tasks. Linux updates automatically on internet connection. Once the time is set, in any of the OS I have tried, it keeps time until the next power down. A warm reboot keeps the time, so I suspect there is a rtc chip rather then the OS keeping time.
