International Star Wars Day today (May the fourth) and my Joggler still hasn't gone over to the dark side.

Gone back to the stock O2 image...half of the new stuff still doesn't work...giving up on it...complete waste of time and effort.

Hi All,

Just got off a quick online support chat with an O2 representative and thought id post the chat here (just full of apologies really), perhaps others should do the same and give them a bit of a nudge ;-) :

You're through to Gray.

Deon: Hi, After the promise of an update for our beloved O2 Jogglers between 30th April and 4th May i still find that thousands of us are still waiting for the update (preferably a 'FULLY' working one), why the delay and what sort of compensation can we expect to receive for the loss of the messagine service (we were not told the service was going to be removed when we bought our products) and after reading over the T&C's and agreements there was no mention of it either (which im sure you are aware is a clear breech)

Gray: Hi I'm Gray. How can I help?

Deon: BTW can i have a 'Reserched' answer please oppose to an automated one

Gray: I'll check this for you.

Gray: Give me a few moments.

Deon: I have 4 mobile contracts you and am wondering wether to renew them or not at the moment, the service were receiving with regards to our jogglers is sub standard, perhaps our mobile contracts will receive similar sub standard services in the future as well?

Deon: OK No Rush.

Gray: I completely understand your concern and I'm sorry for the delay in the upgrade of the services as well.

Deon: An update on your website would be nice so at least we know whats happening

Gray: The upgrade was due between the time you mentioned but we're trying to work on a few things which we thought might affect the users, a few things are irratic and/or non functional and currenlty are still looking into them.

Gray: As soon as we've a fixed date we'll inform all our customers it'll be updated on the website as well.

Deon: A simple little posting on the forums or website would be nice so we all know whats happening in the mean time :-)

Gray: I understand you've had to wait for long and can understand the wait can be a problem. We really apologise for the same.

Gray: As soon as the update is available we'll share it with al the customers and be assured this isn't the level of service we want our customers to receive.

Gray: I've taken your feedback and will definitely pass it on.

Deon: The update was posted on a non official forum although half the stuff just doesnt work and its packed full of awful games that no one wants, not sure whats happening to O2 recently, you guys used to be sooooo good, ill have to give renewing my 4 mobile contracts some serious thought next month, especiually when others are offering unlimited data and O2 are only offering a piffling 1GB. Many thanks for your time, im just off to the forums to post this chat we've had so others can at lease see whats happening as well.

I installed News, I Need A..., and Google Talk

Hi Steve,
could you please be so kind and explain how exactly i can add the app shop? The Open Peak firmware update looks fine and also works pretty good. I just miss opera...

Thanks in advance

You won't find Opera in the App Shop - just the games that are already on, the News Reader (with it's Yahoo headlines) and GTalk. <Start of shameless plug> You will find Opera on the impending PnP III release though! <End of shameless plug ;) >

Hello - new to this forum as a contributor, although I have been lurking for quite some time. Really appreciate all the work you guys have done, which (for me anyway) seems to have been completely undone by the OpenPEAK update.

I only use my Joggler as a music server and player - Squeezebox server from PNP with Roobarb's SQP all running on the same Joggler connected to a powered USB hub, which hosts a USB harddrive with all my music on and a USB to S/PDIF converter, which then goes to the digital input of my amp.

This was all working great and I thought I had bypassed the update until today when all WiFi devices in the house lost their connection. After rescanning the Wifi channels from the router I got everything up and running again only to find the Joggler had been updated.

Squeezeserver is no longer running and I have no way of getting into the Joggler to see if it is still installed. I have tried Telnetting to it (having confirmed I can ping it) using PuTTY but all I get is "Connection closed by remote host" followed by "Network error: connection refused". Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution? Should I be using a different port to 23?

Thanks for any tips.

I've not been able to log in via telnet after the update either... it's been a long time since I last tried to access the native OS via telnet so I can't remember which method I used to install it but I've tried the following username/password combos to no avail:

root/<blank>
root/root
root/letmein
letmein/root
letmein/<blank>
joggler/joggler
letmeinssh/joggler1234

I'm guessing I'll need to install the update again manually so I have a clean install?

Odd. It should just open via a telnet window and typing open xxx.xxx.x.x (your Joggler's IP address). You'll then be presented with an atom login prompt and the username should be root (no password).

Hi Everybody,

Just installed the new Open Peak firmware from USB stick succesfully. I've also downloaded the '8_O2_Final_Transition.tgz' file. Problem is, I'm a newbie concerning Linux and have no idea how I install this .tgz file. I know how to Telnet into the Joggler but that's about it. Can anyone tell me how install the file ?

Many thanks,

Steve

d'oh, the IP address was wrong, the reason I was getting a password prompt is because I was trying to log into my router!

although I still can't get into the joggler:

Code: Select all

telnet 192.168.1.74
Trying 192.168.1.74...
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused
will try the image from the first post and probably give PNP III a whizz tomorrow

* UPDATE - May 10th 2012 *

FROM o2:
The new OS update (openpeak) - Our roll out took a little longer than expected so we expect the whole base to have received the reflash by the 18th May.

The apps we are removing - I noticed some people moving back to the old O2 builds using the tools your community created (fantastic work) but this may cause some problems. The Joggler update is intended keep the device functional for the general users after we end support for the Joggler. This includes removal of some apps including Radio, Sky news, Traffic etc as the feeds that supply them are also being ceased.

The image we sent you - After the Google Calendar error an update was made on the server side to fix this however it was also realised there was a new version of the OS that Openpeak had access to. We are awaiting this being sent to us by the manufacturer but this is the version we are remotely updating the rest of the jogglers (from the 8th onwards). Would you mind taking down the image we sent you and i will ask that the new image is sent to you as soon as we have it (expect some time next week).
