Strangely enough, I had this video in mind when I wrote the post. How cool would it have been to do something like that as a school project? Awesome!

I have already registered my interest with RS (Farnell charge postage).

The Raspberry Pi site posted a letter from RS saying that users who hadn't had regular email updates should re-register, which I did. Then, just like hawsey, I discovered that they'd gone straight to my spam folder.

Since RS are sending out notifications and order details in chronological order according to registration time-stamp, I hope I haven't overwritten my earlier registration details with my re-registration.

I was finally able to order a Raspberry Pi from Farnell yesterday. Not sure what happened; I signed up as soon as the original 'register your interest' messages popped up on launch day, but heard nothing back and my spam bin was not to blame!

Think it may still be some time before I have one in my hand, but at least I'm in the queue properly now. :)

I received my PI on Friday, so far found it to be slower than Joggler for booting and running Debian distribution. Browsing was very slow using Midori, reminds me of the first few month of the Joggler builds. I think the Joggler Guys may find it a bit slow, I understand the XBMC seems to run well on it. Short review here if anyones interested http://jas-hacks.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05 ... sions.html.

Next item on the list may be this http://www.aliexpress.com/product-fm/53 ... alers.html

Its actually a Arm Cortex A8 and currently used in a number of Tablets. A minor recession was caused in China by widespread cancellation of prior committments to other SoCs.

I got my pi! but its faulty, was using it and the sd slot broke off, so it need to go back to RS components before I can use it properly, but whilst I was using it I enjoyed it, openelec runs really well, and debian needs more work, but it performs well for me considering it is such a low spec device

Bad luck Dan ...have you got it back yet?
I'm on "the list "!!!
Think when I get it I'll have to make some sort of case for it or bits will be dropping off!!
Have you any plans/projects for it?

I've just had the invitation from RS for ordering the PI saying about 6 weeks delivery but they will take payment now.
Only thing is I am going on holiday next week for two weeks and I'm not in a position to buy it at the mo!!
Anybody else want my place in the que? I will forward my email if so. It needs my email addy and a special code in the email they sent but I am sure the delivery address can be anywhere. ....

I got my email inviting me to order but money's a bit too tight this month. Four birthdays in a week, my daughter three days ago, mine today, father-in-law's on Sunday, my son's on Monday - plus my wedding anniversary a week after that - have all staked a claim on my piddly disposable income. I'm hoping I can still order after the middle of the month when I get paid.
