I want to run Skype on my joggler...

Post by Twon »

Has anyone done it and what OS did they run to do it?

I'm not great at Linux but would be happy to give it a go. When I got the joggler (a few years ago!) I managed to get custom apps loaded on it so can follow instructions ok.

I've got a spare USB Webcam (logitech) which has a mic built in.

It would be great to hear from someone who has got it working.

:)

I should think it should work fine from my ubuntu based distributions. I've not tried but I have a webcam so I probably should.

Thanks for that.

I'm going to try and get a USB hub to allow the memory stick and the webcam to work at the same time.

Do you know if an unpowered one would work or does it need mains powered USB hubs?

Should work fine with an unpowered one. Here's a test from last night. The joggler needs a wipe. kitchen one ;-)

FYI - I booted my Joggler using Stephen Ford's Ubuntu image (http://www.stephenford.org/joggler/) and then simply downloaded and installed Skype. It works fine.
I have an unpowered USB hub with the Ubuntu USB stick, webcam, wireless keyboard and mouse all plugged in and working without any problem.
