Telio Touch firmware for Joggler ?

Post by hawsey »

Hi ,
read a bit about the Telio Touch and was wondering if it would be possible to have a go at running the firmware for it on a Joggler ?
Nickcom who has one of these has managed to get mint working on his ,and by the looks of it they are pretty similar .
I would not know where to begin to be honest , the first step would probably be to kindly ask him to copy the firmware somehow i suppose ?
Anybody fancy a challange :?:

Hi Hawsey,

I didn't modify the Mint build at all.
1. just downloaded
2. copied it to a Sandisk 8Gb usb stick (bought at PC World)
3. plugged it in and it booted without any problems

it also boots when plugged into a USB hub (unpowered) so i can use a keyboard and mouse

Logitech media server, XMBC, and Squeezeplayer all work fine

also tried these OS's

Android
I tried the Android build but it stopped booting after setting the MAC address stage

XP
Booted fine when plugged in the back but no luck when plugged into a USB hub (the same usb hub that worked for Mint) also ethernet driver is missing so no connectivity

Hope this helps

From looking at the website :

http://www.telio.ch/no_en/privat/tjenester/teliotouch

looks just like a Joggler with a speaker at the bottom.

Not really a question about the firmware, but I was wondering how the DECT phone has been connected to the main unit ? Is it some sort of USB to ATA adaptor ? Do you just plug the phone cable into the main unit ?

Thanks...

Interesting , so the devices must be pretty similar for that to happen;
The USB hub behaviour is typical for XP , try switching off then on , trying a different port on your hub each time , on my cheap Trust hub , XP will only boot in port 4 !! we don't know the reason for this yet as far as i know ; other than that its just a case of trying different hubs till you get one that works
This is mine

What apps does the stand alone Telio have on it on the stock os ? and are you in the UK ? as i was wondering which apps work over here :?:
Good luck Telio tinkering :D

Nickom, that Telio looks good.

In device manager, do you have an exclamation mark against an entry for a realtek PCIe family (or something similar)?

Some Jogglers are unable to load the NIC drivers... we have a few theories as to why, but no fix.

and ? against other devices
Audio device on High Definition Audio Bus

Yes, that'll likely be the same NIC problem as is seen on the jogglers. It's properties will show an 'error 10', meaning the driver could not be loaded.

The other devices' missing drivers, open up their properties in device manager and find their Hardware ID. Google for that and you should be able to source the appropriate driver. You may be prompted to supply files from the XP disk, which you may find I've already zipped up in post #1 of my XP build 3 discussion thread. If that works for you, upload the drivers to the XP how-to wiki and/or the discussion thread and we can add Telio support. :)

Thats another version of the Openpeak Open frame 7. I have one of these. Ubuntu works perfect on it. Even the bluetooth. I was able to download and install the missing driver for windowsxp. Howver, Windows XP is not a very good operating system for the device. I use Ubuntu on and run XBMC mostly. I also have the Zigbee stack installed on it but have not had time to play around with it. Mostly it makes a nice little audio video player. I use XBMC remote for android to control it.
