Bluestacks app player beta released

Post by danfoshizzle »

Would of put this in the off topic was it not for the fact that they seem to now be emulating the ndk, as angry birds and fruit nija now work!

How cool is this? It would be great to run Android and Windows on the Joggler without having to power down and insert another USB stick. It will also be great as an Android emulator at work.

My kids are gonna love this!

Not using it on the joggler, yet. Need to hack its permissions to allow install on 512 ram, will have a go tonight though! Researched a little though, seems they ate now emulating arm on windows.

Tried to install it on my son's Windows 7 laptop - it installed OK but none of the apps would run/display. Probably an OpenGL thing, which the help page hints may be a problem with some architectures - Intel Atom being one of them.

I then tried to install it on my Win XP desktop and it wouldn't install because I have Rocket Dock installed.

My colleague installed it at work but it wouldn't install any apps (probably a proxy server issue) or display the dock.

All in all, I still haven't seen it running. If anybody manages, please post which OS you are using and if you jumped any hurdles before getting it to work.

I am currently using win 8 x64, on the missus pc and its working flawlessly.

I installed this last night on my desktop and had it running without a problem. There were a few skips and stutters in a couple of graphics-heavy apps, but really minor. I haven't tried to install any apps other than the pre-packaged apps, but they seemed to work quite well. I did download a few legitimate (as in, not pirated) APKs to try out but I couldn't find any immediately obvious way of moving them from my normal Windows environment into the Bluestacks Player.

Was a little odd playing Fruit Ninja with my mouse, but it didn't help me play the game any better though!

For reference, all my drivers/patches/.NET redists/etc are up to date and my specs are as follows: Intel Dual Core E5200 (overclocked from 2.5GHz to 3.75GHz), 4GB DDR2 800 RAM, Radeon HD6770 1GB, all running on Win7 x64
