Icefilms on the joggler?

Post by Ferdy147 »

Anyone know if it's possible to get Icefilms working on the joggler and what the best way to do this is?

Thanks,

XBMC works on various Joggler builds but i haven't tried out the ice films plug in but it should work
You will need to
Grab Xubuntu from here http://joggler.exotica.org.uk/ubuntu/ thanks to Buzz ...
Or XP is also a possability if ice films wont work on that .
If you mean just playing movies off the ice films website with a DIVX player i am pretty sure XP and Ubuntu would work .

Give it a go and let us know

Hi there. I can confirm I use icefilms using xubuntu via xbmc! it allows unlimited watching as opposed to the usual 72 minutes if you go straight via the website and watch via flash

however, you can use icefilms to download the video and then play them in parole (the default media player)

i cannot remember off hand which repository i installed to get icefilms. i just went to add repository and added one which seemed most appropriate and added video sources and selected icefilms... perhaps someone with more experience with xbmc can help otherwise i will have to start from scratch to remember what i did!

i can confirm that buzz has done a great job with xbmc and shows play much better quality using xbmc and icefilms/iplayer plugins than if you use flash via firefox or chrome

I can also confirm that icefilms works on xbmc on joggler windows, and playback is smooth.

Good luck getting icefilms to work well anywhere at the moment. Megaupload have just been served with a super-injunction in the US and the site is down. Icefilms' only links wil be 2shared at the moment.

Probably more of a disruption than anything - unless the whole thing snowballs. The Icefilms site says it will be using 2shared links, but it's still a blow because nearly all of their links were Megaupload.

Damn phone that was a jumble of words that last post lol yeah that was what I meant, icefilms content is like 90 percent megaupload, hoping the whole america versus piracy thing does not snowball, as I have a few hosting sites I use and would like at least one to stick around lol

Updated XBMC to Eden Beta 2 on my Apple TV last night and there was also an update to the icefilms addon. Searches were returning '2shared' links instead of the previous Megaupload ones, but I could only get 1 video to load (out of about 20 or so links I tried).

I haven't tried this on the Joggler to see if it fares any better but it shows the addon is in active development.

I shall continue pushing out updates until eden. then have a break. hopefully something will take over from icefilms or they will work around the current issues. there is a 4od plugin, that was working btw, although it didnt work last night. maybe there is an update.

I don't want to hear about the iplayer plugin not working though ;-) hehe

Good idea BuZz, it's probably best to run a stable version of XBMC on the Joggler. I'm only running Eden Beta 2 on the Apple TV 2 because there is no stable version for iOS yet; the Eden beta is the recommended one for iOS devices.

BTW - iPlayer works briliantly on ATV2 with Eden Beta 2.

I haven't tried on Dharma yet but 4od is working well on Eden on the Apple TV. It's worth adding Nibor's repository because he has 4od and Demand 5 addons that both work well.

Here's the download link for Nibor's repo http://bit.ly/zP7pL3

It looks like my endorsement of the 4od addon was a tad premature. Although I watched a full episode of the IT crowd last night, now everything plays for about 30 seconds or so and then bombs out to the program/episode list. Bummer!

The Demand 5 addon seems to be working well though.

btw on my linux builds I include a repo installer in xbmc - on xeebo skin go to extras/addons and nibor's repo is there also.
