Hi Guys ,
I know xbmc lives and breathes quite happily on various distros for the joggler so i don't know if anyone would put any time in to this but ..........
Do you think there would be any way this would run on our little beastie
I know xbmc live runs on the joggler, albeit in chinese lol, so should not be too much hassle to get this going, but I will leave that for one of the linux dudes, I'm a windows guy lol
Fullscreen squeezeplay windows, server 2003, foshiz mini v1 and v2, (and a few broken builds) :P so far.....
more to come!!
Ahh thanks Dan, i knew i had seen an xbmc live for joggler somewhere before , i was sure it was in Englandish tho . I will have to give this a go.
I think Openelec xbmc build for joggler would come in to its own for someone who wants to boot only to xbmc with a massive music/video library that might otherwise slow things up .
I tried to write an image and see if it would boot but it looks like it runs off the stick / disk and builds it on to what you are wanting it on.
I dont really know what i am doing so this was done just to see what would happen, but with no success
So the usual way to create a Openelec build is to have two usb sticks , one with the installer on it and one to create a bootable openelec image on to ; so i figured this would not be possible on the joggler.
I had a dig around and i found this page http://sources.openelec.tv/tmp/image/openelec-eden/ which looks like builds of the new xbmc eden build of openelec.
Would out of this list one of the Generic i386 builds be best to use ?
Also after that does anyone know how to make an image out of one of these tar.bz2 builds ?
Then its just a simple matter (not for me lol ) of making the image bootable by the joggler .
That is all
Away back to Google to investigate
The Joggler has an Intel chipset, so maybe the Intel specific build would be the one to go for? Small enough downloads to try out though. Would the bootloader from the linux builds boot this?
Cheers for trying Dan , maybee we need the help of a Linux / xbmc guru for this one any ideas @Buzz
I think a tiny build of xbmc like this would be similar to the xbox build i.e super quick boot up and very responsive .
When you look at the info it looks like this differs from xbmc live in that it is stripped right back to bare bones which would be ideal for anyone wanting a dedicated xbmc joggler set up .
Happy Joggling
download source. create script to download and compile up joggler graphic drivers. patch up kernel for joggler. add joggler xbmc patches, replace openelec xserver 1.11 with 1.10 sources and modify script accordingly and so on. plenty of stuff to do.
I don't really see the point when you can make xubuntu load xbmc on startup for example.

Ahh , i see Buzz , was hoping this would just be a case of modifying a current linux build and wouldn,t be much to do at all , but as someone once said (faulty towers ) "i know nothing".
My only reason to have this working really was speed to someone with a big xbmc library , say trying to run a lot of add ons ; its supposed to make things super quick on acer Revos and similar low powered pcs.
Never mind thanks for looking
Much appreciated
Did anyone else try and get openelec running on the joggler? I know xbmc can be installed with the different linux distro's but it would be great if there was something like openelec that could be install on the flash and you just had to connect an infra receiver for your remote.
Agreed , i really only started this thread because i had an idea that Openelec on the joggler would be cool after i had replaced my Acer Revo os with it and it made a massive difference to speed and responsiveness on that machine .
If it did work on the Joggler i would still want it to boot off the external usb port on a usb stick
The biggest hurdle i can see would be getting wireless to work , ethernet might not be a problem though .
So to sum it up as previously allready stated by Buzz , put something like xubuntu on to a stick and get it to load xbmc on startup.
