Just to add, the update is available for all the linux builds. Takes a while to compile, dont reboot half way etc etc.

Great work Jools, thank you.
I've just upgraded my Joggler from 11.04 Ubuntu to the 11.10 Xubuntu build, and I have a problem with Squeezeplay.
Previously a long click on an item brought up another menu - this doesn't seem to work any more. Could be something I've messed up in the XFCE desktop settings - I'm not familiar with XFCE, but I'd guess it's related to the new right click functionality mentioned on the website. Anyone got any ideas how I can get the old functionality back? Thanks

you can disable the right click emulation if you dont need it. remove the file in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ relating to right mouse emulation. Its probably that the new right click emu code is working in squeezeplay, and if squeezeplay is looking for a long left click, that wont be possible since it will cause a right click. you could also configure the right click timeout to be longer still by editing the file i mentioned.

I shall be putting out a new release soonish. I have fixed up the alsa patch so I no longer need to rollback the hda stuff in alsa anymore. just finalising the kernel config etc.

also included is xserver 1.10 (at least in natty/oneiric based distros). I read that the last emgd did have a version for xserver 1.10 - as part of the wayland package. I have packaged it up now and it works, and im switching stuff over.

Note that there is currently corruption on the shutdown screen with my distros. not a big issue really - at least ive not found other problems - the latest emgd driver causes that it seems.

xubuntu ready for testing before release

xorg 1.10
latest emgd
new florence with support for mouse modifiers (alt + drag a window for example)
kernel 3.1.6joggler4 - latest alsa, and some config changes including some stuff people were missing.
known issue: emgd still isnt as stable as would be liked. latest emgd seems to mess with fbdev on exit, messing up the display when shutting down.

[images removed while fixing brightness issue]

the other images are also ready - jolios is still on xserver 1.9 due to dependencies etc. images are currently all building on the server.

Updates for Ubuntu and Xubuntu released.

* Kernel 3.1.6.
* Latest EMGD - note seems to cause screen corruption on shutdown.
* Xserver 1.10
* New version of the Florence on screen keyboard with support for mouse modifiers (alt + left click to move window for example).
* General package rollup/ubuntu updates.
* Note: Some of these updates are also available for older images via the Joggler PPA on launchpad.

I've just discovered and installed Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty) (btrfs version), which I want to use with wview. I thought it might be wise to try and use flashybrid to prolong the life of the usb stick, but I'm struggling with the config - caching anything but /etc the boot sequence does not complete properly (no wireless, sometimes hangs). Has anyone successfully installed this? Do I need it?

Thanks very much for this excellent piece of work - I can't belive how well it performs.

doubt that will work out of the box on my image. you could stick some folders etc in ram, but as the joggler lacks memory I prefer to keep em on the usb. I've been running linux on some usb sticks for over a year and they are still going. the write wear levelling is better than you might think. if you are worried, you could it manually. check http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?t=16450 for some details for example. (old though and /run /run/lock are already on tmpfs)

OK thanks for the info.

I now have my joggler receiving data from my weather station and pushing it to the internet using pywws. Will keep an eye on the usb stick and see what life I get out of it. Every night I zip up the dynamic data and push it to some web space, just in case.

I had hoped to use wview, together with apaphe on the joggler, for my weather site. It worked really well when generating test data, but I couldn't get wview to talk to my weather station, so that's one to come back to later on.

If I wanted to create some directories on /tmp at boot time, where would I do this? I want to move some of my less important log files there.

Thanks

Thanks for taking the effort to make these images - i'm using xubuntu and loving it, i do have one problem though, the right click emulation doesn't seem to work. Am i right in thinking you have to tap the screen then hold your finger on it for a few seconds? do you have troubleshooting tips?
This is my system info:
joggler@joggler:~/Desktop$ uname -r
3.1.6joggler5
joggler@joggler:~/Desktop$ uname -a
Linux joggler 3.1.6joggler5 #39 SMP Fri Dec 30 00:08:10 UTC 2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
joggler@joggler:~/Desktop$

I notice i have an old kernel is it possible to apt-get update to a new kernal version?

you press and hold for a second and it should trigger a right click, you can't apt-get upgrade the kernels, but the right click emulation is a feature of the evdev xserver driver anyway. make sure you have a config file in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d called 99-buttonemulation.conf that has the button emulation in it.

If you are still having problems, pastebin a copy of /var/log/Xorg.0.log so I can check if the config is being applied correctly.
