Nah, it was the main baidu forum that Eric originally contributed the xp stuff (later/concurrently he put it all together on his own blog). There was just a subtopic similiar to this one just dealing with the audio take apart for those who were interested in it.

Its difficult cuz I use the untranslated one for the links and the google translated one to read (two windows).

I might have mentioned here but I can't find my own post relating to it.

Dan,

Is that newer than the one we have here on this forum?

Yup; just found 0.2XOJ in my archives.

So I am doing OK right now with the nohub/hub EFI versions.

Over time now I see that the XP's are running fine with no lags and quick response times. For the cold boot; I found out if I do plug in the Joggler; it'll boot first time or second time just fine.

yeah speeds are getting more consistent between builds now, although the 2 builds are built with a different logic, my builds as mevi says are balls to the wall speed and his are more functional and full, although both do exactly the same lol

Like that; "balls to the wall speed"...reminds me of those old videos with the astronauts training in centrifuge machines....

Ha ha, yeah like James Bond in the centrifuge.

Dan's XP = Daniel Craig
Mevi's XP= Roger Moore

Both do the same thing, ha ha!

Yeah, it's bigger than build 1, smaller than build 2. It'll fit on a 4GB stick with room to spare, but you'll need to keep an eye on it so it doesn't run out.

Unless it's a particularly fast 4GB stick, you might find it a bit slow for my XP build. Try Dan's FFXP first as he optimised it for Flash.

What does everyone think about me distributing my XP with all the pretty stuff turned off, and leave it to the end user to turn it back on if they want to? I'll look to see if a windows theme can be turned on from a command line..... It still won't be as responsive on a stick as Dan's, but it just might be acceptable.

Or maybee 2 versions one with all extras turned on and another vanilla with all removed :)
I would be happy either way

Well the download size difference between the vanilla and chocolate versions would be minimal, really and I like to keep to a single build. That and I don't want to step on Dan's toes with a flash optimised version. I did a quick google search. My plan is now to have is to have it run initially stripped down for better performance on a stick, with a desktop shortcut to launch a cmd script to turn on all the stuff for HDD/SSD users. Mostly services and the Zune theme. I'll make it simple.

I played with the trial version of Deep Freeze Standard. It's really impressive stuff and my first impression is that it's worth the money in a business setting. After installing on my work in progress build running on a USB stick, it prompts
for reboot, running an extra .sys on boot. After that, I deleted stuff, change the theme, uninstalled programs...... After reboot, the system was restored back to it was before. I don't know if it's robust enough that the Joggler can be powered off without shutdown and survive. In my tests so far, windows doesn't 'safely remove' the boot disk... It says it has, but continues to use the drive.

Sounds good to me Mevi.

So far have typically started on a 4Gb stick or using the ZIF drive; later moving the image over to the USB SSD stick. I've been adding this or that or deleting this or that really just to see how it runs. I've also gone back to using the first screen saver clock you included in the original builds. Remoting the Jogglers.

Been looking for some sort of touchscreen skin for just video playback with big buttons and the ability to exit via the touch. I've also gone to playing with VLC custom command options to bring up the interface and close it. Kind of trying this with VLC such that I could do the same w
configuration. While I have no issues playing videos; haven't really found something totally light weight. Might go back to playing with the carpc overlay; as its simple and I can adjust the menus such that it only does this or that.

I do have three of the Jogglers configured such that they only run at 1Gb and 1 at 100Mb; no wireless. I've removed three WLAN wireless cards and left one with the wireless card inside of it. Two Jogglers are now running with the USB SSDs inside, one with the USB SSD outside (no wireless inside) and the 4th with a USB SSD outside with the WLAN card still in place.

Might try a 16/32 USB SSD in the next few weeks mounted inside with multiple partitions and just do manual multiboot stuff. While I see that running on the USB SSD is much slower than say the ZIF drive; it seems better though that the average memory stick. So really whatever you want to do sounds good for me.

Mevi my builds are only faster as I disable a lot of bloat, but the new build incorporates alot of optimization for slow boot media, check out mp3car website in the windows NT section of their forum, lots of useful info.

I see the irony in your double post! :D

I'll put shortcuts to turn ON stuff and set it up such that anyone who wants it all switched on, they can. Leaving it as is will run ok on a stick. I think that's a good place to start. I've been looking on the hi-PDA Chinese Joggler forum and their adventures with the audio. I'd like to say I got somewhere..... The translation is unintentionally hilarious, but quite useless. Seems they are talking a lot about cattle, if google translate is to be believed. I can make out the links to the modded ini files that we are already using for the sigmatel audio. I'd better brush up on my Mandarin. My Chinese Food delivery this evening included a 2012 calendar. It's a good place to start.

I'm picking through the translated nonsense and downloading one of their XP builds with EWF. I'm interested to know how that person did it... there's mention of an EFI partition. I'd register and give them credit for their work if I could be sure that my words would be accurately translated for them to read. :D
