Like this Intel advert? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-8GVi2F ... ata_player.
My phone contract is capped at 500mb, the iPad capped at 15GB. There are 'all you can eat' contracts out there too.
good to get the feedback about the NIC problems. It's the one thing that has really caused me headaches. XPe, workin on it.

Yeah giffgaff internet is unlimited, along with 250 minutes and unlimited texts for 10 pound a month which is a bargain
Fullscreen squeezeplay windows, server 2003, foshiz mini v1 and v2, (and a few broken builds) :P so far.....

Rides on O2's network too, so coverage will be great. I've got a sim for one of the kids' phone, only she now wants a Blackberry for Christmas (the best one, probably), as she feels she is missing out on BB Messenger. What, so texts aren't cool anymore?

Re: BUILD 2 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
Just a thought, I used to have a Vaip P laptop which ran the Poubslo / Atom Z520 chipset, would any of the drivers from that work with the Joggler ? I used to spend a lot of time at Pocketables when I had various micro devices so there's lots of info. / driver mods there (it's where I 1st came across Flashfire) . . .

Thanks, jpearn. I'm glad you like it. I'm really pleased with how it runs on a hdd, so when my Kingspec 16GB arrives (faster read and write than the 8GB, so said the spec sheet) I'll be a happy man. It's been over 4 weeks since I bought them......... Zzzzzzzzz.
Tough to say whether drivers from that will work on the Joggler as although the chipset is the 'same', there could be quite major differences in the way Sony and Openpeak have implemented it. As an example, the GMA500 is dual head, with analogue, digital, hdmi all supported. You'll notice in display settings that there is a phantom 2nd monitor! I'd tread carefully with the drivers, but should you find that any of them work better than the ones on these builds, post a link.

Re: BUILD 2 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
I tested using the internal flash to host the EFI partition, meaning the usb stick hdd then only needs one active NTFS partition with XP on it. Boot.ini needs a tweak. Just change the partition(2) for the default entry to partition (1). I won't make that a requirement of any of my builds, but if you want to put that wasted internal storage to use, this might be one to try.

Re: BUILD 2 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
This morning the build is doing nicely on the USB SSD stick. Only changes so far are the static IP / HW NIC speed changes. The tablet pieces are a nice add. I have not rebooted it since yesterday (warm or cold).
Cellular service here has been the same company now over 20 years. Legacy grandfathered all you can eat data plans across multiple cell phones. Funny I had to look for an older type large flip phone with the least amount of buttons for my wife. She doesn't do data or text or surf and only turns on her mobile when she wants to use it. I do recall having a mobile "bag" phone in the car in the 1980's; then moving to a smaller "portable" Panasonic mobile phone. First data was GPRS (Treo & Motorola); not much faster or similiar to older modems. That said I never noticed if my data uploads were/are capped because I never really tried to see the limits.

Re: BUILD 2 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
The Vaio P was dual head with an analogue output via an adaptor, I had the same 2nd monitor always there. And with a Realtek Gigabit ethernet adaptor.Mevi wrote:

My Aigo P8860 mid was also Poublso / US15 chipset, and I managed to get Tiny7 running on it once with 512MB RAM and 4GB SSD, perhaps I should go forth with the Joggler as a challenge now the EFI booting seems sorted

Again thanks for the great work, I really need to figure out what to use it for on XP !
Re: BUILD 2 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
I am on tesco (also o2 network ) mobile - on an offer I don't think they do anymore. Sim only, 1 month rolling contract, 500mins, 500mb, and unlimited texts. £10.62 (was £10 but they have increased it a bit). Pretty decent deal though really.danfoshizzle wrote:Yeah giffgaff internet is unlimited, along with 250 minutes and unlimited texts for 10 pound a month which is a bargain
Re: BUILD 2 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
I added some functions that I thought might be useful for an always on, low wattage pc. Be interested to hear what other things people will use their xp Joggler for. I was having similar thoughts when I bought the Joggler a year ago, planning to run ubuntu.jpearn wrote:Again thanks for the great work, I really need to figure out what to use it for on XP !
I was working on a micro xp build yesterday. It booted fine until I started adding drivers, including for the nic, and after a reboot, would get no further than mup.sys. That's gotta be a driver problem. I'll re image that stick and install ONLY the driver for the nic, skipping prompts for any other driver.

Re: BUILD 2 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
Right, I'll get back on that today. It's only the Team eXPerience MicroXP install patched for the Joggler, nothing flashy. I'm making a testbed for as many exotic ram disks, disk caching, read only applications as I can find.
I have found an app called DeepFreeze which caches all disk functions to memory and completely abandons them on shutdown and restart, restoring the system back to it's initial state. It's the next best thing to a read-only XPe. It's a paid option, but perhaps there is an open source equivalent.

Re: BUILD 2 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
Is there not a cracked version of DeepFreeze?

Re: BUILD 2 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
I expect so, but I would rather find a MS or open source alternative. Bad enough that my XP is based on an unofficial version... I have a couple of spare XP licences to keep me out of trouble ;P.
MS dropped support for their SteadyState technology, but I have an installer for it now. Unsure if this is quite the same, but I'll start playing with both of those options once my testbed XP is up and running.

Re: BUILD 2 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
Could you leave the program unregistred, then its up to the user if they input a "valid" serial?
Only thing is that you would have to have say a 4MB partition that is read/writable for say user "preference settings" this way you could have a read only image on the internal flash and registration keys on the 4 MB Partition? This could be a way arround the copyright on the xpe and deepfreeze as its up to the user if they dicide to use a pirated key
