Re: BUILD 2 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
Pete, my iPhone and iPad are both jailbroken - really opens up the use of them and now I'd never go back to vanilla iOS. Still on 4.3 for now as I'm too busy Joggling.

Re: BUILD 2 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
Interesting doing a side by side thing this morning; HP Touchpad and IPad. Same size; almost looking like twins.
I have the image (from VHD this time) to the USB SSD stick.
first cold booted with GBNIC. Locked at MUP before 1/2 screen thing.
second cold boot without GBNIC. Booted right away to load drivers. Loading drivers. warm rebooted. slow to come up.
Will do a couple of warm boots; then a cold boot; then another warm boot and will plug in GBNIC after a few of these.

Re: BUILD 2 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
Beast edition ran from internal flash, but was a slow as a pig in a horse race, and i had to edit boot.nsh iirc.
I also have a version I found in the depths of the internet, its called mini XP and the ISO is just 90 MB, it runs in a vm but never tried on the joggler.
And I just want XP as fast as Linux is on the joggler, and the new build with flashfire seems to be doing well, apart from increased boot times XP flies, but I only have one stick to test on so am not sure if flashfire will like being used on a different stick.

yeah, the internal flash clocks in at a pathetic 1 MB/S

Re: BUILD 2 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
I'd love to enable xpe features specifically for HORM (hibernate one ready many) which is perfect for car pc use. I tinkered with it a bit but because we're using a hacked ntldr I can't replace it.. How did you get past that part Mevi?
I usually just add the ewf subsystem to existing xp builds and enable the features but can't with the ntldr that we're using.

If I can get XPe running, I'll make it read only to cut down on the thrashing the internal ram will get. Not sure at this stage whether I'd have any need for XPe. Seems like duplicating work, but I've never touched XPe before the last few days.
I'm still using the hacked NTLDR with XPe, so no EWF. FlashFire is similar in concept, but I've had problems that I suspect were caused when combining it with a HDD.

Re: BUILD 2 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
A small Linux dist runs ok, but it is abismally slow,
Good luck mevi would be awesome to have XP on flash
Manxam, in one of my other threads I explained that ewf uses a patched ntldr, but to boot XP, we are using a patched ntldr, and once ewf has its ntldr in place, it breaks ours. And I have not found a way out of it.

Re: BUILD 2 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
A brilliant use for embedded is for appliance use, ie squeezeplay only or xbmc only, I think that would run well.
On a sidenote, if we find out how the patched ntldr works could maybe ditch Ms for react os lmao

Re: BUILD 2 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
Last warm boot went to over 15 minutes (USB SSD). Unplugged the Joggler for a cold boot. Some start file got corrupted and trashed boot.
Will reimage and start again; this time though will expand the image to the rest of the USB SSD.

Re: BUILD 2 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
Its not really an issue. Looked and VHD did utilize the whole USB stick; so no expansion necessary.
What was very odd though was the warm boot after loading the drivers. Both times I unplugged the NIC on warm boot.
The USB memory stick rebooted slower but got to the desktop within 15 minutes.
The USB SSD dragged to the point that I had to unplug it and doing so corrupted the image (must have been doing this and that).
BTW started to root the HP Touchpad for Android and now liking the HP OS so much that will most likely never put android on it.

Yeah WebOS is a lovely os, such a shame HP killed it....
And that warm boot is strange too. Those USB ssd are usually fast

Re: BUILD 2 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
Just did a warm boot maybe 5 times or so. Its quick now.
Left the GB NIC plugged in on the 6th time. Locked at the Mup.sys / display thing.
Not an issue.
I think that the market deserves another tablet OS to compete with Android, Apple & Wintel; so personally I haven't written HP OS off yet; but that's me.

Re: BUILD 2 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
I though HP buying WebOS would have given it some market appeal. I read a while back that they're still keeping WebOS alive for handsets, though.
Pete, have you tried a cross-over cable directly to another PC? I don't know if the Joggler port is auto sensing.
I've not been able to replicate it here. Warm boots are ok, cold boots too. I have used it plugged directly into the router and plugged into a powerline adapter, picks up an IP and is on the network. I can only think that there's something peculiar with the Joggler NIC that is disagreeing with something.

Re: BUILD 2 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
Mevi,
I have not tried a cross over cable. Playing a bit with the image on the USB SSD. I did change the IP to a static IP a few minutes ago.
I can plug the NIC into a powerline adapter or do a crossover cable. For now will take it to a 100Mbs switch.
Upon a warm boot without the NIC cable plugged in; moved it to 100Mb switch and plugged the NIC in and it locked again.
I will take the USB SSD and plug it into the other Jogglers in a little bit.
I did just notice touching the very bottom of the screen took the mouse icon to the top of the screen. I haven't though done a calibration on this one yet.
Did calibration and hard set network to 100 full duplex. Did a quick warm boot without network cable plugged in. Shut down. Plugged network cable in; unplugged power and then plugged it back in. Booted into network without locking up.
I just noticed that the ext2 explore icon.
Network is working fine but the network icon appears to be looking for an ip?
Did another warm boot with the network cable plugged in. Booting right up into the network. The network icon quit looking.
And another warm boot anyways just to see what happens. It froze at the Mup.sys.
Unplugged power and plugged it back in leaving the network cable plugged in. Booted up fine. Maybe I didn't wait enough on the last warm boot.
Its difficult to see the LED flashing on the USB SSD drive.
BTW the previous image would go to O2 logo land with warm boots sometimes.
Did another couple of warm reboots and both times went right into the network. Will take the USB SSD stick to the other Jogglers in a bit.
Do you mind this feedback?
Kind of going slow with just checking the hardware, warm reboots, cold reboots, not really adding anything, just kind of playing with what is on there....

Re: BUILD 2 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
I have to say that the old build with the new nohub efi files is just about perfect. The little thing flies on a usb hard drive and moves pretty well on a usb stick.
Thanks for all of your hard work Mevi (and Dan, we haven't forgotten about you!)

Dan,
So the phone plans there have capped/tiered internet up and downloads?
Mevi's new build is very impressive. You know you guys have become MS Joggler status symbols everywhere!
