Joggler BIOS/EFI ...Windows...

Post by -=xXx=- »

Hi...
As we know joggler uses EFI system to load and it is 32bit. Many new motherboard also use EFI system but also emulate BIOS ...
So how do you think can we use for example bios from viliv S5 on our device. And there is file windowsboot32.zip on jogglerwiki.com maybe someone know from what windows version it was extracted ? I can boot it and it asks for CD but in that boot files is missing bootmgr.efi there is only cdboot.efi which can be booted so theoretically bootmgr.efi from that image also will be bootable...

I found some interesting files on http://www.insanelymac.com ... I think they are from 32bit Vista installation...
And I could boot to "Windows Boot Manager" and it works I created some menu in BCD, But for booting to windows it expects next efi and it is winload.efi
it is in \boot.wim\2\Windows\System32\winload.efi of vista beta 2.

Photo of boot manager in attachment and also EFI files.

Do you have the ISO of that build of Vista?

If you do, have you tried installing it and then creating a VHD to boot the joggler from?

(Unless Vista doesn't support booting from VHD)

Or do you only have the boot files from insanelymac?

Maybe someone is interested in porting CSM (Bios Emulation) to our device and maybe knows "C" programming language, it is not so difficult to boot any OS on our device. On intel web site is all information that can help us creating CSM http://download.intel.com/technology/fr ... m_0_97.pdf
Also we have sources from MAC ...

After I tried MAC xom I get error with video and there need to be some modifications... but in general it can be used...
Source code is not so complicate if we remove all graphic and simply leave only base CSM I think it can work...

I have a copy of windows longhorn (vista beta 2) build 5308 which i've read on another joggler forum has the 32-bit efi, i'm just installing it in a virtual machine now so if anyone want any specific files let me know and i'll upload them. I'd love to see windows booting on my joggler :-)

I've installed it but it's asking to be activated, I should have set the date back in the VM's bios and disconnected from the internet before installing it, I'm trying to access the files using my boot camp partition as a VM and loading the longhorn image as a secondary drive. If that fails i'll re-install it

First when you try bios, VBIOS and CMC need to be used from original...
Or also can be used coreboot but need lot of time and work...
