I have a version of tiny xp full fat that runs very nicely from HDD and is close to a release and I'm testing the changes needed to get it running off a stick. I hope to incorporate all that into a single working image with the necessary batch and .reg files to make the switch between the two setups. Hope for it not to be a big download too.

I couldn't get microXP to get a correctly working touchscreen or to shutdown properly. The drivers were identical.

Interested in that version of the efi with grub. A few days ago I tried getting boot.ini to chain PLOP boot loader after the bios loaded and then to boot win7 off USB. Failed miserably, but not deterred.

My comments about the internal flash remain, microchip, but try to not change the size and position of the factory OS partitions. That was what I found out from people booting Linux from the internal flash.

And I still haven't worked out the NIC driver issue with Joggler 2! I feel like I need a resolution before I put it out there.

Great news Mevi!

Personally I think the NIC is getting stuck in a "suspended animation mode" based on the little bit of voltage its getting from the battery and or NIC interface network switch; thats me though. A hard cold reset (removing the power) isn't for whatever reason doing anything to the NIC.

An FYI -

Recieved 4 KingSpec USB SSD 8Gb drives today in the mail. Well packaged. It took approximately 4 weeks.

Could do with a touchscreen efi module for dual booting, saves having a keyboard plugged in.

Seems my recent issues are pc related, as my power supply has just died lol

And re the multiboot, have you been able to get this working?

Have got multiboot working with XP, android & netbook remix, but havn't tried two windows partitions. would probably have to change the active partition before booting (will give it a try)

MickChip,

Great news! Is the multiboot working from the USB stick or the internal memory (EFI piece?) Think you mentioned internal early on.

Dan,

Check too the motherboard for the "exploding" capacitor "syndrome". I had a new Intel board do this after 1 month of it being on 24/7.

Your not having much luck with power supplies Dan, failures usually come in threes, so watch out.
Pete yes I have refit on the jogglers efi partition and the nvram starts refit, this then boots grub.efi and as long as you have a keyboard plugged in you can choose your OS

Great News there MickChip!

So should I wait on putting an image on the USB SSD's? I was going to start to take apart my Jogglers for the USB SSD stuff.

I you wanted to wait to see if my build is for you, I'll upload it tomorrow and post a link. I'm gonna do a soak test with it on a USB stick overnight, to see if it breaks under stress.

HDD-wise, it's solid. Using the supplied eXPerience reg files to disable/manual services, it boots and runs well from memory stick - can be done from the one image. They thoughtfully included 5 different levels of services stopped. With a few tweaks, HARDCORE is the one for me on a USB stick, but if you want less memory usage, then you still have the option of MANIAC. :D

I'll list all the details of the build when I post it.

They include a DEFAULT reg file to turn it all back on if something breaks.

Hi Mick,
Would it be possible to post an image of your triple boot set up? Or would this have to be set up manually, really stoked about this, its the sort of set up i have been after for a while as am getting bored with all my usb sticks :P and i love most images produced thus far for the joggler.
If this needs manual set up any chance of a tutorial of sorts, pretty please ..
Thanks
Gary

It's the device not started error that i have on the newer joggler i got. I'll try a bit more to get it working. A 99p USB to LAN adaptor on eBay is a very cheap alternative.

This xp is booting from cold with the Ethernet plugged in on both the joggler's nic and the USB adaptor, so that problem is solved here. Warm boot: will do more testing as it's not reliable. Did I read that you had xp starting back up from a windows restart? If so, do you have a how-to and I'll include it. :)

Damn seems as though we have some good brains working on this! Way to go guys. Feel a little warm feeling knowing people are starting to do there own builds, I know I was the first but I'm by no means the best person to be building windows, Congrats on that multiboot Mick, can I ask how it was accomplished? Also gonna be rebuilding my PC in a mo, 1am is the best time for building a PC, nice and quiet lol

And I will say like I have said before, the more people building images, the better windows on joggler will be, congratulations guys mighty fine work.

This is great!
Congratulations!

Yes I've had no issues with external "el cheapo" USB to NIC devices; just the internal one. Sounds like you got it!

On warm start it was kind of working and not. Sometimes in XP it just goes to the O2 screen and hangs a bit there; so really its only OK. I can though when its working on reboot; it loads and runs the screen brightness program before the GUI comes up, syncs the time too (NIC is connected) and does a sound. If its not working on warm boot; it'll hang trying to get the time and date.

In front of me I still utilize an over 10 years old HP L1725. Still working OK; kind of old fashioned looking and not really a "thin" monitor but functional. I also have an Asus 24" next to it. Very reasonable in cost and a nice picture. I liked the old HP pivot stand that I ripped the Asus off its stand and used the HP Pivotal stand for it.

Dan; come to America to find your fortune and wealth....I sound like a television commercial. Its been bad here with the economy. Now here that want to tax anything you buy on the Internet. They have a line now on the tax forms to include any purchases made out of state. I'll be paying to flush the toilet soon; oh wait I already am. lol

Here's a chill out picture. I framed this one and gave it to the neighbors; its The water was very calm. I never did a panoramic view before this picture and wanted to give it a try.
