EMGD 1.8 driver out

Post by BuZz »

v1.8 of the emgd driver is out.

I'll test it out and package it up as soon as I can.

xbmc with opengl seems to be stable. So perhaps I can ditch the gl es build. Next to try an xbmc build with vaapi acceleration.

the new drivers are on my ppa, and should be picked up as available updates on my joggler distributions.

well.. that's rather good news. vaapi is working with xbmc. i think the interface is a little slower with opengl, but video playback seems good. I just played a 720p h264, which seemed to work quite ok, although my joggler is a little warm in this heat! I'll get a new build of xbmc with touchscreen/pointer patches and vaapi uploaded and people can give it a spin. along with the xeebo skin, it should be great!

actually it's not as good as I first thought. it seems to work, but lags occasionally and then buffers. It's an older version though so ill try the latest code and see.

I have read that the 1.10 driver has been in testing for those that have access to the intel premier support stuff (signing an nda basically). Got a feeling it will be due out soon, and hopefully it will support new xserver and kernels. shall wait and see.
