johnnygal wrote:Well, my SP2 install has failed also. The progress bar was only about 70% across.

The last message was "Installing syssetup.inf".

The failure in the svcpack.log file looks like it's failing to get/set a registry value:
Interesting position now....After the SP2 install failed and rolled back and gave a message that it is partially installed.

If I go into wireless settings, I am now able to select WPA-PSK/AES - Great! Except that no wireless networks are detected now. I will try re-installing the wireless drivers.

It could be the stick; MS is a bit "fussier" relating to memory sticks than Linux or Android.

Using Gparted wipe and reformat and wipe it again; then try to write the image to it again.

Yeah when I tried to install SP1 just now it stated corrupt file; and I have used this same service pack for other machines with no isssue.

Relating to memory sticks I utilize the micro HP 4Gb ones, Kingston 8Gb DataTraveler and Patriot 8Gb "Supersonic Express". I also test with a 1.8 ZIP micro 30Gb to USB drive and a 1/2 sized 2.5" Hitachi 20 Gb to USB drive.

Unfortunately we have encountered a problem locating your file. You way wish to contact the owner / uploader of the file to get it re-uploaded again

Any chance of a mirror ?? Thanks !

False alarm re the WPA2. I don't think much of SP2 went on at all. It still reports patch level SP1 and there is no option for WPA2 (says WPAPSK/AES - weird, as I thought AES only came along with WPA2).

Anyway, that's me for now....

U know Dan; time doesn't move as slow when you are as old as I am; lol

It actually moves too fast sometimes.

After the first attempt at SP1; corrupt; downloaded SP1 again and now its installing. Actually faster than SP2. Wonder with this installed (if it works) then trying SP2 again; I might get somewhere with this.

You know just an FYI; XP is running just fine for me now; just testing with W2003.

I'll upload it to megaupload shortly. Uploading right now at 478 kB/s. Should be in a little while. Estimated time 01:15:00 for upload.

Look for the link here ====>
