Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED
sp2 is just a matter of running the .exe file downloaded from Microsoft should be really easy, i have no reason to as i use wpa.
heres a link
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=41
its a big old chunk of application though would like to see how it runs with this installed.

Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED
I've put my Joggler back together with the USB SSD inside.
The other day I tried to just disable the EFI partition to be able to boot off an external USB with another NTFS partition and ended up trashing the internal NTFS partition. There has to be another way to do this.
I'll take it apart today and boot into the W2003 setup and update to SP2. I am using an 8Gb stick for the W2003 setup.

Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED
are you trying booting not using efi?
As the joggler simply wont boot without an active efi boot file, I would try using one ntfs partition and changing the boot ini to reflect the changes, efi files would still need to be accessed but maybe would be accessed from the root of a windows c drive.

Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED
Good idea Dan.
I was trying to boot the external USB with W2003 on it. I just copied the internal EFI boot files into a separate directory such that they didn't exist. I then went to boot off the external USB and the EFI looked at the NTFS partiton on the internal USB; started to boot off of it; and didn't complete though. Meanwhile for whatever reason it trashed that partition; so I just rewrote it; not an issue though.
BTW ripping apart the W2003 embedded NAS box apart as I don't really use it much and may convert it to Linux; meanwhile looking for the DOM inside of it somewhere...

Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED
Dan, how has your stick died ?danfoshizzle wrote:yeah would try myself but usb stick died a joggler death so buying new one tomorrow lol
i thought mine had died a while back messing about with image files on it so it got chucked in a corner

i bought another and eventually it seemed to go the same way ,when plugged in , only a small amount of memory showing and a re format did not cure it
i did a bit of Googling and came up with this http://www.astahost.com/info.php/repart ... test_Entry
This was what was wrong with my usb drives and the above worked like a charm , i am sure i am teaching my Grannie to suck eggs here and your drive is totally bricked but it may help someone on here , it saved me a tenner

Happy Joggling

Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED
i am also looking at not using usboot on my next image and doing it the good old fashioned registry/tweak way!
as this would maybe boost performance a little bit, but on the other hand it may impact the speed who knows lol
we can but try and if we fail its all a learning experience isnt it lol

Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED
@hawsey No its just died from constant read/write cycles no access to the flash chips, this wouldn't normally happen but where i have been developing and fiddling with windows so much i have burned it out lol

Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED
SP2 install fails stating that the update.inf file is incorrect.
Looking at the svcpack.log file, it's failing on the GetBuildType function. I wonder if this "tiny" build is not being recognised correctly as 2003 Server?

Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED
OK,it may be due to insufficient free space on the disk. During installation it may need upto 3GB disk space!

I will expand the partition and try again.

Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED
The 3GB is just peak usage during installation due to temporary files/backups/etc. But still, wanting another nearly 2GB after installation is crazy.

Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED
it really is mental, adding an extra 2gb to the os files seems crazy, But i suppose a server would not have space issues lol

Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED
I took apart this old 1U server with 2003Server embedded on it. It has a Foxconn small 1/2 mini ITX board in it. The DOM appears to be an IDE on a miniPCI card with a ribbon cable going to the board. I've never seen one like this. The computer doesn't have a monitor but it has a VGA connector on the MB - non standard though.
I've never had a look at it inside before.
I can get to it via a serial connection.
Using SisSoftware Sandra - its a P3 1.0Ghz with 512Mb of memory on it. Intel 815 style MB.
I see the IDE device (DOM) but I can do anything with it.
Looking at the boot loader it is booting off the DOM; then looks like it goes to the boot mirror drive (which is what I am seeing and there is two of them).
