Must be the fluctuating power stuff on the USB port. Not sure is a powered USB hub would make any difference. I could maybe by pass the hub by plugging in the stick internally to the wireless USB port and the keyboard wireless dongle on the side USB port?

No issues at all using the ZIF SSD drive (and much faster to update). I can though say that the updating of the USB stick took over 12 hours and wondering now if it is because I used an 8Gb stick. I did make the efi boot partition larger at around 150 Mb shifting over the partitions and the stick did boot up fine.

Writing about the EFI stuff cuz here upgraded a PipoX7 to boot in either Windows 10 or Ubuntu 18.04 for use with KODI. Tinkering with it over the last few years created some 6 more EFI boot things in the BIOS which trashed the boot went to efibootmanager here and just deleted all of the bios booting EFI partitons until there was only two; one for Windows 10 and another for Ubuntu 18.04, Not sure if you can utilize efibootmanager with the Joggler. Never tried. You can run it fine via ssh and the command line.

Thanks for all the efforts I'm struggling on myself and managed to install some of the Amature Radio software I wanted on 14.04 but have now decided to upgrade to 16.04 , wish me luck .
Afterwards I will look at Bionic .

Try maybe not using a hub and using the internal USB port for your USB stick and the external USB port for your combo keyboard / mouse stuff.

Here utilize a Logitech K400 wireless keyboard and mouse. It even works with the EFI blind typing stuff.

Well it looks like I broke my build going up to 16.04 , it tries to boot but then brings up emergency mode .
If I hit enter I get root@joggler is there any easy way to fix?

Maybe try ..

systemctl default or control D

or

Boot up with a working Ubuntu stick and check the other stick..

sudo -i
fdisk -l

umount /dev/sdb1
fsck -y /dev/sdb1
poweroff

(check to make sure other not booting stick is sdb1.)

Resurrected the network on my modded Openframe box such that I have XUbuntu 18.04 running fine now with the Gb ethernet port and Wireless.

Webmin shows:

I installed current version of KODI on it and it works fine. Also installed SqueezePlayer and it works but doesn't save my settings and wondering why.

KODI works but it is not using hardware acceleration rather VMWare drivers for Video.

This is what I see with video:

Updated Intel drivers to opensource just to see if it works.

I installed Squeezeplayer from the Squeezeplayer repository as tried using Andy's but it would not work with Ubuntu 18.04.

It must be some setting with Squeezplayer as I configure for full screen on the Joggler and it sees all my other Jogglers BUT when I exit it never saves the settings and I have to reconfigure it. I do not now what I am doing wrong. And now the player screen works but never comes up. I have installed it some 3 to 4 times now with the same results. Might be missing something here in the settings. Are the dynamic settings stored some place other than the /opt/squeezeplay directory?

Tell me the exact links to your SDR application such that I can try installing it. I have a few of these little SDR sticks / antennas around from my tinkering here.

Note that I want to install the SDR application and not an image for an OS.

The plan would be to take the SSD image over to a USB stick partition by partition here.

Using one of those NOOElec USB to test. Works fine directly and via VNC.

Got Squeezeplayer to work fine now. Saves configuration and I see it on the Squeezeplayer website as a registered device with my custom mac address.

Yes... next steps here will be to remove the SSD drive and do an external partition copy to a USB stick using my laptop....not sure if it'll work.

That said the original installation to SSD came from Buzz's USB XUbuntu image...copying it over to the SSD drive and redoing the EFI boot partition.

Note that the video driver working is not the Joggler GPU stuff rather it is whatever Ubuntu 18.04 configured as posted above.

It works fine for the SDR radio graphics.
