Can I image the W10 build to a ZIF SSD drive?

Played with W10 a while ago and didn't shrink it down enough. Thinking of switch the embedded XP touchscreens here to W10.

Yes you can, if you don't need satnav just remove the IGO folder from the root and anything else can be uninstalled.
Tried a few reduced Win10 builds but this one seems the fastest, just done a build with the Store enabled to test Sygic Navigation,
it was so slow it was unusable.

Yup here last build removed store and Cortana. Only Cortana kept reinstalling itself.

That and ran the script that removed all of the MS stuff (hundreds of IP's).

It ran OK but it wasn't really quick.

Just tried out the W10 Nav Core Bios build and it is booting great on one of the Cheap Lexar Jump Drives .

I have it in the house at the mo and have opened up Squeezeplay syncing with two other jogglers and it appears to work fine , cheers mickchip ,
I previously tried a W10 build on a SanDisk Ultra Fit and it would not boot , presumably not fast enough , so this is good , it means my SSD can go back to work as my Server
I might try the GPS stick on internal and the Lexar booting from the side port .

For the latest build I first used winreducerex100, the install.wim went from 2.3gb to 1.2gb, I then USED Winlite10v6.1 at the install stage. All this done on virtual box before making the image.

Hi everyone;
finally, with the old hub from my sister, I got the system to work for me, too! Thank you, mickchip!
But you guys are 2 steps ahead again - using Win 10....
2 Questions to this:
Since start and shutdown times are important for a car system - is the Win 10 implementation considerably faster than the XP?
Is the Win10 system stable - as stable as the XP version?
If both answers are a yes - can somebody share a how-to for the coreboot/seabios conversion?
(I only found the diary in the wiki - which still talks about issues and problems...)

My thoughts , boot up and shut down of Mick chips Satnav W10 build is definitely quicker than XP .
Are you certain to power down correctly each time ?
If not the image of the Os gets quickly corrupted and the USB stick needs re built .
That being said , XP will also work on a Core bios Joggler but I've not tried it , think Mick has .

I would give it a go , I'm not the one to teach you though ha haa .
Pete showed me if your reading this (Pete) , I'm pretty sure Mickchip will guide you through as well , was pretty easy from what I remember .

Sooo - who would be willing to help with a brief how-to to get a Joggler converted to Corebios etc for Win10 usage?

Thank you, hawsey! I read on and found this instruction from Pete in the corebios thread:

...That said the steps to write the newest ROM while in Joggler O2 mode are:
1 - I find it easier to SSH to the Joggler. If you haven't installed it; an easy way to install SSH is to update your Joggler with PnPIII.
2 - SSH to your Joggler
3 - copy the ROM to a USB stick and plug the USB stick into the Joggler (you can just format the stick to FAT32 and copy the downloaded ROM to it)
4 - this is a copy and paste from up the line in posts under this subtopic

# cd /mnt
# ls
coreboot.rom
# modprobe fh
# dd if=/mnt/coreboot.rom of=/dev/fh count=1 bs=1024k
1+0 records in
1+0 records out
# ls
coreboot.rom
# reboot

5 - with the newest ROM you can update to a newer ROM with a Keyboard and USB stick (with newer ROM named xxx) plugged into the Joggler by hitting F12 and following the prompts.

That's all that is involved with updating the ROM.
NOTE: you will not be able to boot up to the Joggler O2 OS with the seabios rom. But if you buy some spare flash chips you can just swap an n O2 flash chip with the seabio'd one.
....Note the the Seabios is in flux and you are participating in a generously offered compiled just for the Joggler test bios by inaxeon.
Note any "gotchas" that can happen on the way if you are not careful; baby steps and caution.

But I still have some questions:
1) People are talkng here about "corebooting and seabiosing the joggler" -- are these 2 seperate things or are both referring to installing a the new ROM from inaxeon?
2) Could I replace the entire above procedure by using http://birdslikewires.uk/openframe-flash tool?
3) Does anybody have a backup of latest ROM from inaxeon? The Links to the ROM from inaxeon I found in this thread are all dead.....

They are the same thing as far as I know , I just used a plug in keyboard in to a hub with the Rom on a USB stick not the SSH method ; I have the files somewhere on my laptop , I'll look tomorrow night unless someone jumps in here first of course

I'm not sure of the exact steps though ,other than it was very easy ... so we will await help ....

And no I'm pretty sure the Birds like wires flash tool would not work as that leaves the efi boot intact and what we are doing here is replacing it with a standard PC type boot bios so you could boot off say a Live USB stick or plug in a DVD drive and boot off a Live CD .

Today doing two base things to my base Openpeak devices for running Wintel. Most important and working well these days is installing a working NIC ROM in the Realtek network chip on the Joggler (it comes naked). This will allow for WOL now. Other changes involve soldering an RTC with battery clock. This is a bit difficult but it fits and works.

I have created a combo coreboot / update NIC rom image which will allow you to update the Joggler to the coreboot ROM and then reboot to update the NIC ROM.

1 - Coreboot configuration. Easy peasy.

A - copy your coreboot img file to a USB fat formatted stick
B - SSH remotely to your Joggler - thinking default is sudo but do a sudo su anyways.
C - note that the USB stick will present itself to the /mnt directory on a stock updated Joggler

cd /mnt
ls
coreboot.rom
modprobe fh
dd if=/mnt/coreboot.rom of=/dev/fh count=1 bs=1024k
reboot

2 - NIC ROM update. You must have coreboot rom installed to boot the USB stick image.

3 - RTC with battery update - note here you are soldering hair sized wires and while it works fine it is a bit difficult to do. Here utilized a magnifying glass with my soldering station. I have only done one Joggler / Openpeak with this update. I also added a 5 port USB hub to the back of the Joggler and it is currently running Ubuntu with original EFI boot bios.

In July, 2016 I updated to a much smaller RTC which fits nicely on the top left hand side of the Joggler. This allows for you to keep the USB wireless stick in the Joggler.

I tested this with coreboot and wintel and never was able to get it to work. I could probably get it to work putting the device on a USB stick connection in Windows.

Mickchip I've ordered a 32GB Linx 7 and want to use iGO on it and update to W10 possibly , how would I go about using your Joggler W10 and also iGo on it ? I think it would fly along on it .
How did you go about your dual boot Android / W10 on the connect 7 ? did you use a tutorial or do it yourself

Sort of followed the guide below, downloaded the bios and android then I first updated to win10 and then resized to 21gb. Then with a hub attached, ran windows 10 from a USB stick and opened minitool partition wizard, plugged in another 32gb usb stick and made a copy of the win 10 on the connect 7. I then installed the dual bios followed by android. started the connect 7 from the win 10 usb stick and copied back the image of win 10. This way it was still activated.

Not sure if you could use my Win10 build, Only way to find out is try it. Win10 on the Linx or Tesco Connect 7 works OK anyway
Pity they don't have built in GPS, then you wouldn't need a lead and dongle.

Thanks Mick , sounds complicated but I'm sure I'll get there I very nearly went for the billing x70 like you got but the Linx swung it for now , I might still get one of the x70s when I get paid at the end of the month but I've used my gadget allowance he heh .
Mine will come with Win8 so I'll see if it will let me free upgrade first off ...

I want to say thank you again to mickchip, pete & hawsay!
Returned yesterday from a 1200km trip - where this system (still xp version) lead me (almost) perfectly.
In the beginning, it lost connection to the GPS a couple of times (not weak GPS signal - it lost connection to the dongle), but that eased off somehow.
(Unfortunately, it once lost connection just before a speed trap and ... bam ... I got a ticket... )
After that - smooth sailing.
I am using this cheap power adaptor:

which works nicely so far.

Now, I am trying the seabios stuff - and thanks to petes great write-up, it was plug and play - great!

However, I have seen these issues with the Win10 Nav:

1) When I click the Minimize button within IGO, it crashes (or shuts down), instead of minimizing (which worked in the XP version) - is this me, or do you guys see that as well? (I would like to use minimize, as I would like to be able to run some mediaplayer while Igo runs. (And the left to right swipe thing mentioned by mickchip works for somehow only in 1 out of 10 tries...)
*Update*: I managed to run 'show desktop' through the external program button.
Just downloaded & copied this tool into a folder of your choice. "nircmd.exe" and added it to the external programs
as: "c:/a folder of your choice/nircmd.exe" and with these paramaters: "sendkeypress rwin+D" works nicely

2) Missing screen brighness adjust on Win10 - does somebody have a link to the little hack used in the mevi XP to try it on win10? I googled, but can not find it. Or the name? I seem to recall it was someone from asia?
*Update*: I found it within the mevi XP under Programs - folder backlight. I will see and try if this works

Anyway - this is all fun - another great use for the little jogglers!

There are two versions of the backlighting program. I have attached most recent one.

I use 15 of the tabletop Jogglers as automation touchscreens which are controlled by the automation mothership using nircmd stuff.

Finally managed to get the pata connector soldered on, it's taken me all day.
My eyes aren't what they used to be, this is the 32 gb ssd the same as in the viliv x70.
Next job is to try and fit the gps inside the joggler.
