SqpOS 3.03 - Cisco - Sound issues

Post by castalla »

I've run into a problem with SQpOS external and the Openframe 2 Cisco.

Setting up the sound system is hit'n'miss - sometimes it works (and all alsamixer are present). Othertimes, there is only Beep present.

Seems almost random - it's as if some system values/settings are not being initiated.

Any ideas?

Update!

For those of you lucky enough to have a snazzy OpenFrame 2, I have just updated all of the images to v2.04 - with OF2 support!

There are now two images for installing to internal memory - one sized for the Joggler's 1GB and the other for the OF2's 2GB of space.

There've also been a bunch of changes to the naming - as I'm having to differentiate between systems I'm settling on calling them OpenFrame 1 (Joggler) and OpenFrame 2 devices. You'll see the hostname has changed to 'openframe', but I'll continue to use 'joggler' as the username and password.

One last thing - auto-switching between internal speakers and the headphone jack on the OF2 is turned off at the moment. It's not designed to be, but SqueezePlay will make sure it's set correctly in the next version. In the meantime, just SSH in and run 'alsamixer' - then go over to the Auto Switch option and turn it on.

Got mine today.

The power supply refused to work :( , but I used a MeanWell GS25B05-P1J.

First booted to OpenPeake, everything went well, no time lag.

Installed the Internal Squeezeplay and connected wirelessly to the network.

Pleased to see there is enough room for LMS on the internal chip. So I'm downloading that now.

The internal speakers seem adequate, especially for speech, or morning alarms.

I don't have much time to test further today, but I'm pleased with the purchase.

Thanks to Castalla for the heads up.

Just installed EDO and playing through a USB DAC :P

Not sure what is meant by autoswitch ?

In any event, think the problem lies in how alsa is/was initiated on first boot. It seems ro be working now as all the alsamixer parameters are showing now.

Strange.

So you just replaced the cisco software with Openpeak 30030 ? Then flashed sqpos ?

Yep.

The place I was trying to think of the other day is Alcoi.

Ah - Alcoi - strange place - set in a mountain valley - was an important arms manufacturing town in the early 1900s. Lots of art nouveau facades on the buildings and a lot of fancy bridges. All a bit run down these days - like most of Spain since the Crisis.
