Not sure if anyone is still checking this post, but just in case...

I also went for a remote (RF rather than IR). http://www.dx.com/p/261628
Almost everything works straight out of the box (Arrow keys, Enter, Volume) Only thing that doesn't is Play/Pause - which i'd love to be able to have!

I'm presuming lirc-x is the solution....

I installed lirc-x and can see the remote commands coming through via irw
I put one custom command into home/joggler/.lircrc that reads:

begin
remote = devinput
prog = irxevent
button = KEY_PLAYPAUSE
config = Key c Squeeze
end

The one thing I can't seem to get to work is using irxevent

When I use 'irxevent &' it appears to hang, and doesn't seem to use the .lircrc file I have put into /home/joggler directory
If I use 'irxevent -d' i get a 'can't open DISPLAY' and a return to the command line.

Also, i'm running Squeezeplay OS for Joggler - http://birdslikewires.co.uk/articles/squeezeplay-os - so am curious how (if I can get irxevent to work) I can get it to run in the background at startup

Any thoughts on getting this one extra command recognised and working would be great

EDIT: MANAGED TO SOLVE THIS BY CHANGING THE KEYBOARD MAPPING OF THE REMOTE SO THAT THE PLAYPAUSE BUTTON NOW SENT A 'C' COMMAND INSTEAD

ONLY THE LAST LINE OF THE INSTRUCTIONS NEEDED A BIT OF TWEAKING. HAD TO PUT THE LINE IN THE TOP PART OF THE DOCUMENT IN THE 'USB KEYBOARD CHECK' SECTION
