mysqueezebox.com registration keeps changing?
mysqueezebox.com registration keeps changing?
Every so often the registration with mysqueezebox.com changes to, I assume, the email address of another Joggler Squeeze Play OS user.
Does Squeeze Play OS have a hard coded MAC address?
Does anyone know how mysqueezebox.com identifies different squeeze players?
The symptom that this has happened is that my last.fm app stops working, I suspect because the mystery registration does not have any last.fm credentials in mysqueezebox.com
Re-registering my details on mysqueezebox.com fixes the issue.
Any ideas?
Is there any other information that would help diagnose this?
Regards, the Ian.

I think it's because the hardware mac address changes each time the system boots.
Some similar boards use a fix in the script.bin file to provide a static mac address.
Maybe something similar is possible with the joggler ....

I'm not sure it does. The mac isn't a true hardware mac address and does change if you reinstall the software as it's set in software somehow, no idea how.
My joggler also runs my server so to make accessing the Web pages easier I've set my router to reserve an ip address based on the Mac address. This still works after rebooting.
I have also had the joggler lose its registration details, but not often, maybe twice in a year or so.

Googling around, I also am no longer sure about this! All I know is that when I was attempting to get mysb.com access worling, the Joggler appeared in Players as 2 wierdly named devices - one called Philon with a Perth, Aus. timezone! I only got a 'valid' player show up when I switched the router wifi channel from 11 to 8 !!!
On another topic - has anybody been able to upgrade LMS to 7.8 ???

What's the latest with LMS 7.8? Does it being anything new and is it stable?
BirdsLikeWires - Get fresh builds of Debian Bullseye, Bookworm, and Trixie for OpenFrame with the latest 5.10, 6.1, and 6.12 kernels!

It's supposedly very stable. The 2 main advantages I know of a the tunein radio stuff that supplies the Internet radio browsing menu is no longer reliant on mysqueezebox.com so radio browsing basically will still work if the site goes down or is discontinued.roobarb! wrote:What's the latest with LMS 7.8? And there's a new option to apply a gain setting to streaming services. So if for example you use the smart mix plugin to mix Spotify and local music you can prevent the big volume differences you can get.
I've not tried it myself so that's all anecdotal from the slim devices forums.

I have 7.8 on two arm PCs - seems to run fine.
I wonder if dpkg -i over the installed LMS would work?

Might have a play with LMS 7.8 on PnP III then. I did say to myself a week ago that I'd leave the tinkering alone for a bit too!
"EVERY DAY I'M JOGGLERING!"
Jogglering since Dec '09;
Tinkering with Jogglers since Feb '10 thanks to PMJ, Jogtools, PnP & sqpOS;
Gave something back Feb '12 to Apr '14 with PnP Mk II & PnP III;
Finally 'completed' PnP III Apr '15!

It should - I'll upgrade my home system first and run some tests with my Jogglers. If it's as solid as 7.7, I'll look at updating things.castalla wrote:I wonder if dpkg -i over the installed LMS would work?

Just quickly popped it on a PnP III Joggler. Working OK so far...

Re: mysqueezebox.com registration keeps changing?
Might be worth starting a new thread on this - but ... I've been running LMS 7.8 nightly for about a week on Joggler.
It has been working well enough for me - but I have noticed that the "My Apps" and "Apps Gallery" areas are pretty empty - and Deezer would not install.
However, I did a messy install by hand rather than try dpkg - so I might have broken something along the way (or picked a "nightly" with problems).
