no noticable improvements. ubuntu unity still doesn't work. the closed source xorg binary drivers have the same version numbers as before too. ill push the update out shortly though.

yeh. sucks. I reckon the gfx vendor (tungsten gfx afair), is not much involved anymore. the bugs are in the xorg drivers,, and so long as those binary blobs don't improve, we are stuck :(

highlighting the fact of course, that only xorg xserver 1.7/1.9 and version that half works on 1.10 and wayland is supported, the future doesn't look bright. and the fact that all the package patches for building on newer kernels still apply..(ie, very little upstream kernel changes), it makes it even worse.

How's the kernel driver getting on these days? I've not looked for some time - I'm guessing hardware acceleration is still off the table?

I think it has basic 2d acceleration.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Poulsbo has some info.

not sure if it works with the joggler though anyway.

I guess it does with some patches (gma500_gfx is the current name of the kernel driver) - see commit history here : https://github.com/pkirchhofer/android-kernel
(from the user who worked out what needed changing for kernel 3.4+ 3.8+ for the joggler audio)
