Re: PnP III: Enhance the standard OS - Download v3.201 here!
Reg. Wireless Issue:
I have similar probems and I tried the drivers from the Wiki - they work, but not any better than the original ones.
(Hawsey - pls let me know, when you move this discussion to another thread, so this one does not get hijacked - although it is original O2 s/w PNPIII related)
However I noticed (and I think it was also stated somewhere in this forum a while ago - but I can't find it....) that the wireless preformance is greatly dependent on 2 things:
1) Mainly the wireless mode - where N-mode has very poor receiving performance and G mode is much better
2) Also the Channel used - channel 8 gave me by far the best performance. Even switching 1 down or up degraded reception massively (And this is not influenced by neighboring WLANs! We have luckily very few / none around)
With optimizing the 2 items (via Router settings) I was able to have consistent min. 11Mb/s reception from one floor to the other for my joggler, whereas before I was barely able to get 1Mb/s with frequent dropouts
2) is easy to fix by telling my route to use channel 8
but 1) is tricky, since switching the router to G-mode makes all my other N-mode devices also slow......
-> My question: Has anybody an idea how to force the joggler (stock OS w/ PNPIII) to use G-Mode?

Re: PnP III: Enhance the standard OS - Download v3.201 here!
Hello. Opera won't work on one of my jogglers. Newest PnP III on roobarb's updated openpeak reflash. There is no response at all from the internet or forum button. Everything else works. I've rebooted, pulled plug, refreshed, restarted tango (whatever that is
).
This joggler is temperamental so I try to leave it be. Is there anything else I should check before I reflash and reinstall? Not sure what to look for but am happy to ssh in to check codes. Ta!

Re: PnP III: Enhance the standard OS - Download v3.201 here!
If you feel a bit experimental knowing that you can reflash and start from scratch; have a look at the script that runs when you install PnP3.
Baby steps first....go slow and tell me how you plan to look at the script. (you can do this with your windows computer)

Hi Pete
.
I can putty in to add codes and I can ssh in to have a look at the files that are there. And there you have the sum total of my abilities!
Not sure what you mean by...
Am happy to experiment but suspect I'll be reflashing and that something went awry when installing.

I think you will be fine and you are in the good hands of offbeatdave.
You really cannot mess up your Joggler. I have tried and not succeeded yet.
I did short one a few weeks back out dribbling on it - really - solder dribble and fixed it afterwards.

Re: PnP III: Enhance the standard OS - Download v3.201 here!
offbeatdave, I tried both the codes but it wouldn't work. The second code (used with the stick in) looked hopeful but came up with error messages saying the opera app wasn't there. So I did the whole thing from scratch and all is well. Thanks again.

Re: PnP III: Enhance the standard OS - Download v3.201 here!
Testing out two from scratch Joggler O2's with PnP III.
These two were actually never really touched kind of but were booting and running XP via a USB stick. Just finished soldering the ZIF connectors; no dribbles and tested them both to be fine (went to tiny Weller soldering tips on these).
Just validated ZIF SSD drive connectivity (part 1) via the older XP sticks that were in them.
Both seem to take a very long time to boot into the original O2 OS. Wondering about that?
None the less will write new FW and Dave's PnP 3 on these guys today.

Re: PnP III: Enhance the standard OS - Download v3.201 here!
The O2 stock OS always took an age to boot on my Jogglers, nothing untoward there Pete.
Re: PnP III: Enhance the standard OS - Download v3.201 here!
Updated the two O2's using an SSD USB stick. Both are now at Roobarb's current firmware / latest PnP3 software. Yeah forgot how long it takes to boot up.
One odd thing I found and maybe it was related to the USB SSD stick. When I first wrote the firmware to the USB SSD stick using Winimage 32 bit (latest 32 bit version); it did write to the stick; but I couldn't see the files. I did it a couple of times and it was the same everytime. I then went to another USB stick writer (USB Image) and then I could see the files. Maybe just some weird coincidence.
Tested original base stuff to work just fine. Zif connector stuff failed or I gave up after being a bit tired. It works but doesn't work; if that makes sense.
In conclusion the step by step process in the OP works fine from my testing. There is the part of the PnP3 update when stays at an O2 screen seemingly forever if you watch it; but as earlier versions works fine; plug n play like.
One Joggler is literally in pieces on my hobby workbench. I had purchased some 26 guage cable and soldering/wiring a second USB internal port today. I did notice that if you use a thicker guage (24?) you have to route the wires around the Joggler motherboard. With the thinner guage you have much more room to play with. I have been using the two solder USB points on the motherboard and the ground and power traces connected to the external USB port drawing the cables through to the opposite side of the motherboard. There are some little plastic ridges where the USB wireless stick is mounted; these I trim down with an "exacto" knife to make some more room inside of the case.

Re: PnP III: Enhance the standard OS - Download v3.201 here!
I have 2 jogglers, one with pnpiii and one with squeezeplay!I tried changing the squeezeplay but with no success. What I did was: 1.install openpeak image by installing the img in a USB and then reboot joggler.Green screen appeared and openpeak installed. 2. Downloaded latest version of pnp and extracted on a USB. On my PC in telnet I pasted the information provided... cd /mnt/files. I always get error can't cd mnt. I tried different USB with no success. I want to try the other method mentioned, but I can't understand the instructions provided. Can anyone provide noobs instructions?
Re: PnP III: Enhance the standard OS - Download v3.201 here!
ok managed to update joggler to OpenPeak Firmware (Version 30300), using the reflashing Tool to install. So after i download latest version of pnpiii and extract on a usb (tried 6 different usb drives...), insert in joggler and reboot, but no magic happens, it boots in openpeak firmware with no pnpiii. Same thing happened in all usb drives. I also tried with putty but i get this error in all usb drives:

Type "mount" and show us what you see (copy and paste the results).

Re: PnP III: Enhance the standard OS - Download v3.201 here!
@ttherapo, if you are using roobarb!'s improved openpeak image, i think you need to enter a password - which should also be joggler.
Also, did you make sure that there is no 'remove for reinstall' file (or whatever it's called)?
I've found that only one of my 3 openpeaked pnp'ed jogglers will accept the automatic install from usb feature. The other two won't update to pnp unless i telnet in.
(btw, i've only seen that error message 'can't cd...' when it doesn't like the usb stick)
