If I were you, I'd start from scratch. Me being me, I would delete the original file and unzipped file from my pc to avoid any confusion. Use a clean usb and try again. It honestly does work - just take the steps slowly and follow them to the letter with no shortcuts.

Hmm so you have the file that ends in
.img on say your desktop
you have a clean newly formatted usb stick
You open up win32disc imager and point it to your usb stick
Also point it to your. img file
Then click on write
Then what is happening?

I would tend to agree with Spoyser stick with it
Once you have worked out how to do this it opens up all sorts of other possibilities for your joggler, plus you could buy another and the same thing happen again, I think quite a few of us were total novices not that long ago

It definitely works - I've just created an openpeak image usb with no problems.

When I download the openpeak image (or any image for that matter) it looks like a sheet of white paper with red and blue dots on it. I don't get a pile of books... When I extract I end up with a folder, inside of which is the unzipped file that visually looks just like the zipped file but without the .gz. This .img file is the file you need to write. I usually save this unzipped file in a different location to the original download to avoid any confusion.

I'm all out of ideas. If all else fails and no-one can get it to work for you, you can post me your usb and I'll write it but I agree with hawsey and spoyser, that getting this to work now will be really helpful in the long run.

Whew!

Yes. This time you'll just be downloading and copying a file to usb but there's a little bit extra to do to get the usb to load onto your joggler. Read the first post on the PnP III topic. All the step by step instructions are there.

If you get stuck post your questions on that thread - that way you'll be 'heard' by those who can help.

It sounds to me as if you might be trying to write the image without unzipping it first. You need to unzip the ".img.gz" file so that you have an image file with just ".img" at the end. I use 7-zip to do this - http://www.7-zip.org/ - because it is open source, good and free. When you have installed 7-zip you can then right-click on the ".img.gz" file and selecting the extraction method from the menu; depending on how you do this the ".img" file will either be in the same location as the ".img.gz" file or in a folder.

You're also best to format the USB stick beforehand using the HP USB format tool - http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Har ... Tool.shtml - but make sure you have no other USB sticks or drives connected before you do; you don't want to format your 2TB drive by mistake and lose all your glorious stuff. Format the USB stick as FAT32.

In Win32Diskimager just choose the ".img" file you have extracted and write it to the USB stick. You might have to choose the stick from a drop-down menu on the right. My PC has a floppy disk drive (remember those?) and defaults to the A: drive; I have to manually select the USB stick before writing the image. Please make sure you have no other USB drives connected other than the stick you want to write the image to (just in case).

When you reflash the Joggler the first and most important rule is be patient. The Joggler may appear to be doing nothing for a long period with just the O2 logo on a black screen. Leave it alone for at least half an hour and hopefully you will come back to a reflashed Joggler.
