I guess thats always an option, if I send you a memory stick in a stamped addressed envelope (remember when you used to hear that phrase a lot on TV programs?).

Re: **BUILD 3 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
Hi. I'm running Mevi XP (thank you) off two different USB 3.0 drives via the internal usb port (drilled through the back for the cable) and for some reason it boots up WAY quicker on one (35 seconds on the Seagate) than the other (over two minutes on the Verbatim).
They are brand new writes from WIN32 writer on new formats.
Also, the screen is sometimes shifted up about 10 pixels (sometimes a restart fixes this). I read that I can temporarily switch screen resolutions to fix this but once I go up and accept, the lower resolution is no longer selectable. Also, if I cancel the screen resolution change, the screen is still shifted.

There was some chat relating to using another intel video driver. Its really an older one and I don't recall if the attached is the correct one. I just have it archived as Joggler_LQ070y3LG4A. This one might help with your screen issue.

Re: **BUILD 3 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
yes, the new video driver should sort out the shifted pixels and give you some more video options too. The file name of the one Pete has linked to looks right to me. If you want to be super-sure, it is linked to by Inaxeon in a post on the Coreboot/SeaBIOS thread. An advanced search on the forum should bring up the result.
I have a theory about your slow boot time, but I've not had much time to test and due to a life changing event, my Jogglers are in storage right now so I need to put it out there for others to confirm.... when I re-flashed a Joggler using the new OpenPeak supplied flash tool, the XP boot time increased hugely. It does the top-half-screen-corruption in good time, but then waits a very long time with little to no HDD access before then bursting back into life and continuing the boot. Operation from then on is normal. Plugging the HDD into another Joggler resulted in normal boot times.

Re: **BUILD 3 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
Can I ask why you have not used the new video driver by default?
I am using two different hard drives (written to using the exact same software) on the SAME joggler. The Seagate drive boots XP faster than the Verbatim. They are both newly formatted.

Re: **BUILD 3 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
It isn't per say a "new" video driver; just a different one.
The "screen shift" issue was an odd one. I personally have now 12 Jogglers here and have tested Mevi's XP build (old) on all of them and have no screen shift issues; in fact I think I only saw it once on one of them. Think the issue was related to certain Openpeak Joggler hardware builds? It is similiar to the issue of running or non running built in network adaptor. Here only maybe 4 of the Jogglers always boot up with a working network interface and the others are hit or miss.
That aside and just related to running XP. If you change over to the Coreboot/Seabios setup; Mevi's build runs well and boots up fast from either a USB port or PATA port. The built in network interface doesn't appear to be configured in the BIOS; that said an external USB connected NIC works well. The new BIOS has a feature to be able to switch to the original Joggler BIOS in a couple of minutes.

Re: **BUILD 3 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
Perhaps there's something related to the HDD hardware/firmware that is causing the slowdown... perhaps in the drive's USB2.0 backwards compatibility?
Do you use the same USB cable on both drives?
Just guesses now.
There are a few developments that have come to light since I 'finished' XP on the Joggler over a year ago which I haven't considered major enough to make a new build and leave it to the end user to patch. I can't remember if I put a link to the video driver on my post #1, so I'll add that if not.

Re: **BUILD 3 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
Thanks. It is the same cable but i put the issue down to the hard drive.
I also have another problem. I have some software that will not show the full options because the screen resolution is too small. I can't resize it because it always pins to the top of the screen when I do. I have tried changing the dpi but that function is disabled.
Any ideas please?

Re: **BUILD 3 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
Shame about the hdd... Have you looked to see if there is an updated firmware at the manufacturers website. Long shot.
As for the limited screen res, you can VNC into the Joggler from another pc over the network, then change the screen res to something like 1024x768. The Joggler screen can't display that, but VNC will happily switch and you can continue to install what you like while viewing over VNC.
The computer name, is on the info text on the desktop wallpaper, the password is joggler, all lowercase.
While still connected over VNC, to switch back to 800x480 you will need to go into the display properties, go to 'advanced' and 'show all modes for this display'. There you will find the 800x480 32bit setting. Fiddly, I know.
If this is something you think you will need to do often, you can make a shortcut for each screen res you need, but I will need to look that up as my Joggler stuff is all in storage!!

Re: **BUILD 3 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
I found the above info in one of my post a few pages back, change the shortcut settings to suit!!!Mevi wrote:Yes, the same is possible with VNC. useful if you're installing something like iTunes which has one dialogue box bigger than the Joggler's screen.
If you wanted a quick and easy way to change resolutions on the fly, you can setup a shortcut to: c:\progra~1\nircmd\nircmd.exe setdisplay 1280 1024 32. Good thing about doing it this way is that should things go wrong, a shutdown and restart will return you to whatever the resolution is set up under windows display settings.

Re: **BUILD 3 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
Oh, that looks great! Good to see this getting use beyond the Joggler. I never expected that.
USBoot should pick up new hardware on boot, but to keep the download size low, i didn't include extra generic drivers... I'm sure there are better XP drivers for the S6 though. Might be worth showing hidden devices in device manager so you can uninstall any old Joggler devices if they still remain. Might knock a second or two off the boot time.
If you're using this on cellular, be sure to uninstall the media sharing software so you don't get any unwanted expensive network activity!!
How does it run on the S6? I know the atom is clocked slower, but the boot media will be nice and speedy. I'm a bit jealous!

Already installed optimised drivers and removed any unneeded ones, It actually runs very well
a lot better than Win 8 which I've also got installed (dual booting)

Re: **BUILD 3 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
Hi Mevi, sorry for bugging you, I gave one of my Jogglers to a friend of mine, he's a Windows user and he would like to try your Windows build, going to the site min.us it seems we cannot download the images, when you talk about hosting costs you mean these files? Can you please let we download it? Thanks a lot!
Re: **BUILD 3 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
The hosting costs were back when I was using my own personal storage.
The Minus hosting doesn't cost me anything, but it occasionally stops working for a bit with 'not found' errors and then comes back to life (someone PM me a week ago with the same problem) If it's still not working later today, drop me a PM and I will link you to my Amazon bucket.

Re: **BUILD 3 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
Thanks a lot Mevi I'll try to get it later, but... is the link the same? (I mean min.us).
Re: **BUILD 3 - Windows XP Professional SP3 (Plus Tablet PC)
Yes, the link to min.us on post #1 will show all the files available. You click the IMG or VHD you want and then the screen refreshes and you see a download button on the right.
It's working for me right now, but when some have reported a file not found error, others AT THE SAME TIME were downloading with no problems...... At some stage I'll set up a mirror on another site. I chose minus as they don't have a file expiry.

Yet another use for Mevi's XP, this time on the Aigo Mid. This works very well and I removed USBoot so I don't get the text when starting up
