SqueezePlay OS for Joggler
Re: SqueezePlay OS for Joggler
Can't you just log out and log back in again as yourself?
You mention that you can run apps from LMS but they don't appear on the Joggler; where is the Joggler picking LMS data up from? Is it another Joggler or your PC? Nothing installed on LMS will appear on the Joggler interface itself unless it is connected to your local LMS server; if it isn't, it will be picking up its apps from squeezebox.com.
I seem to remember that an image was posted on the forum with somebody else's connection details, but I can't remember if it was Squeezeplay OS or not.

Hi. Yes I could, but was afraid of the other connection details. Not sure if it's so, but felt safer reinstalling LMS.gegs wrote:Can't you just log out and log back in again as yourself?
To be honest I haven't the foggiest anymore. Somewhere along the line i've lost the plot. LMS itself was showing all my preference on the pc but the joggler was clearly not.gegs wrote:You mention that you can run apps from LMS but they don't appear on the Joggler; where is the Joggler picking LMS data up from? I won't lie - seeing those strangers details really freaked me out. I'll be keeping an eye on the connection details and if any apps disappear it'll be the first thing I check from now on. There's just no way that that information was entered by anyone in this household.gegs wrote:I seem to remember that an image was posted on the forum with somebody else's connection details, but I can't remember if it was Squeezeplay OS or not.
Well for now, it's back up and running with all the correct settings. Thanks again!
Re: SqueezePlay OS for Joggler
Doesn't it have the details of the originator of the files which you then have to replace with your own via registration settings?

Hee hee...I guess having a map defaulting to a city on the other side of the country to you might be a bit useless. Sorry...but it's a little bit funny!Fishy wrote:Doesn't it have the details of the originator of the files which you then have to replace with your own via registration settings?

I know when you reflash a joggler it still seems shows the last network it was attached to but I didn't think it would have held onto any lms settings - especially as my lms is on a usb. Of course the IT world is a bit of a black hole for me so what do I know...

Jogglering since Dec '09;
Tinkering with Jogglers since Feb '10 thanks to PMJ, Jogtools, PnP & sqpOS;
Gave something back Feb '12 to Apr '14 with PnP Mk II & PnP III;
Finally 'completed' PnP III Apr '15!

Re: SqueezePlay OS for Joggler
What is the hostname for the server when LMS is installed alongside SqpOS? I have LMS installed on my PnPIII Joggler but I'd like to try using SqpOS LMS because I'd be able to play WMA streams; I can't do that using PnPIII LMS due to the lack of Mplayer.
I wondered if it was something other than 'atom', the hostname on the PnPIII version of LMS. It would make it easier to choose servers if they had different names. Incidentally, is there an easy way to change the hostname of an LMS server?

Re: SqueezePlay OS for Joggler
On the main setting page for LMS theres an option to change the name of your server. Use <jogglerip>:9000 to access the web ui then settings in the bottom right corner. Yes it is different to Atom on PNP but can't remember what the default one was as I've changed mine. You can change Atom on the PNP LMS as well to whatever you want.
Re: SqueezePlay OS for Joggler
Thanks for the reply but although I can easily change the names of players from the default "Squeezeplay" (which I already have), I don't see how to change the server hostname. The hostname is the second item down when you select the "Information" tab on the server settings page.
Re: SqueezePlay OS for Joggler
You can make all kinds of changes to it by enabling SSH and using WinSCP to edit the base files in it. I have since changed my set up to a static IP and redid the NTP time stuff for my local NTP server.

Thanks Pete, I'll have a look at the base files with WinSCP. Here's hoping I don't screw something up.
Re: SqueezePlay OS for Joggler
Sorry for being obtuse but where do config files for LMS reside? I don't really know what I'm looking for... or where.
Re: SqueezePlay OS for Joggler
If anybody has SqpOS and LMS installed together (i.e. running from the same stick), I would be grateful if you could tell me what the default server hostname is in the settings. You can get this by clicking on "settings" on the LMS web interface, clicking on the last tab ("Information") and reading the second item down. I already run LMS on my PnPIII Joggler and would like to try the SqpOS version on another machine because it has the ability to stream WMA through Mplayer.
It might get a bit confusing if both server hostnames were the same, although I suspect they might be.
P.S. the server hostname is not the same as the player name.

Re: SqueezePlay OS for Joggler
Mine is 'joggler' but to be honest I'm not sure if that's the default or what I named it on installation. I have more than 1 LMS running in the house & avoid confusion by making sure I name the media library as well as the player. Works for me but I suspect that's because I use LMS in it's very basic form - ie only my music library.gegs wrote:If anybody has SqpOS and LMS installed together (i.e. running from the same stick), I would be grateful if you could tell me what the default server hostname is in the settings. Re: SqueezePlay OS for Joggler
Thanks very much for clearing that up. I'm definitely going to give LMS on SqpOS a spin now. I wanted to avoid confusion with server names mainly for my family's sake - you know the "how come this worked yesterday but doesn't work today?" type of question. I didn't fancy running two servers that had the same hostname but it looks like they don't.

Re: SqueezePlay OS for Joggler
As I said in my previous post you can change the name of the server on the general page of the LMS Web settings page, 2nd option down, from memory labelled music library name or similar.
Re: SqueezePlay OS for Joggler
Aye, that'll do it. It grabs the name 'joggler' from the default hostname that I gave the OS. If you wanted to change it at the OS level, then just SSH in and edit /etc/hostname and /etc/hosts, changing 'joggler' to whatever you want. No spaces or kooky characters, mind.JimbobVFR400 wrote:As I said in my previous post you can change the name of the server on the general page of the LMS Web settings page, 2nd option down, from memory labelled music library name or similar.

Re: SqueezePlay OS for Joggler
Thanks roobarb, that's what I was looking for, a way to change the hostname. With a confusion of player and server names I just wanted to make sure I was connected to the server I wanted. One LMS server won't play WMA and the other will, so I wanted to be able to change to something self-explanatory like "kitchenjoggler" or "loungejoggler" so that I could check which one is active on the settings page - and change it if necessary. I also want to see if one is more stable than the other (I know, I know! ... it's what killed the cat).roobarb! wrote:Aye, that'll do it. Re: SqueezePlay OS for Joggler
gegs,
Jimbob is right.
You don't need to change anything with SSH etc.
Just fire up LMS on the Joggler you are interested in via browsing to IP, eg 192.168.1.22:9000.
On basic settings tab, second box down is "Media library name".
On a fresh install this is blank so it defaults to the device's name, eg atom, joggler, etc.
However if you put a unique name in there it becomes the Library name.
Do this for each Joggler and you will then be able to identify each none clearly when switching libraries.
That's how I have mine set up and it's easy then to determine which is which, (running SqPOS & LMS on a 8Gb memory stick plus 2 Jogglers on PnPIII and a SB Touch).

Re: SqueezePlay OS for Joggler
This is very true - there is no need to do it at the OS level, but you can if you want to. Changing it in the LMS setup screen will indeed alter it so far as any instances of SqueezePlay are concerned.Fishy wrote:gegs,

Re: SqueezePlay OS for Joggler
Thanks all for clarification.
Much as I love the whole Squeezebox thing, I can see why Logitech has felt compelled to follow a simpler (and possibly more lucrative) route with their new internet radios. The whole "device name/server name/squeezebox.com/local server/plugin installation" rigmarole can be confusing to the non-technical user - and even the occasionally technical (but more frequently imbecilic) user like myself. My family can't understand that when they click on a squeezebox.com app they will lose all of the local server's 3rd party apps; more importantly, they don't know how to get them back.
"Why did Spotify work yesterday but it doesn't today?"
"That's because yesterday you were using the 3rd party Triode plugin darling, today you're using the official Squeezebox.com plugin that doesn't work on the Joggler"
Not a great state of affairs for a system trying to achieve mass market acceptance.
Before you all start, I think their new radios are pants and I won't be buying one; I can only sympathise with their decision on a business level. I only wish they'd released the UE radios for the mass market and kept the Squeezebox Radio and Touch as top-of-the-range audiophile devices for those in the know.
