Gegs, if it's tinker-time you're looking for, the instructions for rolling your own XP build are pretty easy to follow. Would be good to see a new XP build.

I made a brand new image a few weeks back, from scratch, which had all the features of build 3, only with multi-language UI support. It came with both english and chinese UI. The reason for a rebuild is that Build 3 is popular on the Chinese HiPDA forum and I got a good few requests for a chinese version. I found that Tiny XP breaks the MUI pack support if you don't chose to install language support at the first install. My new build worked well, only when I came to image it, it the HDD image got corrupted and won't boot now. :'(

Is this supposed to be bootable from the USB port directly, or does it require a hub to work?

I've booted from USB and getting the int37 error, subsequent boots have not got me into windows either - I saw, I think on a Windows XP post that there was a script or something for with hub/without hub, any chance this would help?

I'll definitely give it a go but it might not be for a while (I've a kitchen to decorate first). The forum needn't hold its collective breath... I'm not hugely confident about my abilities in this regard.

I built images on my pentium d with 1gb ram, its slower than the average bear, but it still gets the job done

Microsoft Virtual PC requires a CPU that supports virtualisation, but there are other virtual machine software that doesn't. I'm not familiar with any of them first hand as I already had virtual PC on my laptop - I have Win 7 Pro which entitled me to use 'XP mode' which is just XP running on Virtual PC.

Gegs, if you are using an older desktop machine and have a spare HDD, you could always side step the whole virtualised business and install XP on real hardware. You'd probably find it much quicker than a virtual machine. Depending on your HW, you might need to change your bios settings so that XP is installed with ACPI.

Hi Guys,

I have been happily playing around with my Jogglers and am looking to find the most efficient windows platform to run touch screen control software (Homeseer like Pete), TTS, and some music (SqueezeSoft), I tried the Windows Server 2003 build and it works quite well, then I came across this one which seems even more streamlined and efficient.

I tried to download from the links, but they are reporting as access denied or not existing, is it possible to PM me a link to the download for this 2003 build?
Also on a side note, how would I go about installing SAPI on this build so that i can use applications that incorporate text to speech, is it a case of just installing the Speech server SDK from the microsoft site, as I would love to use a text to speech program on the jogglers I have

Having trouble finding a back-up of this old image, let me look up sapi and then will put oput a new one, about time there was a new foshizimage anyway lol

Thanks heaps for taking a look at it, I found through testing that your Win2003 Builds seem to have the greatest performance for any windows system.
My application is actually to use the jogglers as touchscreens for Homeseer's home automation control (hstouch), as well as using some text to speech, and the squeezesoft player, I found that whilst the audio quality is not the greatest, they do work quite well as a whole house audio system by putting them around the place.

On the last build it all worked perfectly (just needed to install .net 4.0, and java then all good) except I could not get TTS working, so i am hoping the v2 build (or v3) is even slimmer and speedier . On mine i turned off just about every un-needed service, themes etc (as the touchscreen control software goes fullscreen anyway) and it made a bit of a difference to speed.

Hi Dan,

If it is easier i can install programs on the build once you are finished,
but since you seem to be best at making the fastest builds, any chance the V3 could have java, .net, sapi and squeezeplay installed.

I am most keen to get SAPI / Text to speech working, but regardless I would end up installing .net,
and java to get my home automation stuff going, and the device seems like a great fit as a squeezeplay client!

Thanks for the great work with the builds, I am stuck on windows which is a pain (due to the specific software requirements etc), but your builds are so fast that it is not a huge deal, and forgoing the 'pretty' stuff in XP (e.g. Themes) to result in faster speed is why i think the Server 2003 build is a much better fit for a low spec device.
