Wrong power supply fail .

Post by hawsey »

If someone had been messing about with a Joggler in their car and instead of plugging in the joggler power supply they had inadvertently plugged in their laptop charger thus causing a distinct wiff of electrical smoke do you think the said Joggler would be caput?
And also if it was caput would the screen be still fine would you think?
Assuming the answer to the above was both yes would any good person have a joggler with a broken screen for the purposes of canabalisation?
That is all
:-(

Ok I'm coming clean here , talking about myself and my test joggler.
Can't believe I did it really but it is what it is and its not good at all!!
I will gladly pay postage / donation for a volunteer joggler with broken screen :-)

It's now in pieces :-) nothing visibly blown at point of power cables but a chip looks like it might have popped!!
Well and truly goosed I think has anyone whos had a blown joggler before any idea what else will be zapped?
Screen is my main concern but it would be nice to re use efi /wireless if not broken.
Cheers

Have you checked resistance with any resistors around the power supply cable? You may have popped one of those instead of any chips, in which case it's a bugger but possible to replace?

Certainly a couple of jogglers being killed lately! (One being mine!)

Thanks for the help, but I had a look and I think even fixing those little resistors would be beyond me, they are so tiny!!
I think I'm resigned to finding a one with a broken screen as a partner for mine :-)
I would test the screen with my working Joggler if it wasn't for the worry of it having a short and breaking my good one if you know what I mean.
