Yippee! Win7 booting from USB on the joggler
Don't want to switch off incase it doesn't boot again. This was from a pre-installed Win7
I just can't help staring at my joggler screen, Inaxeon you must now be the joggler king.
I did notice that while it was installing drivers the touchscreen worked, but when it finished it didn't.

Doesn't shutdown properly, have to switch it off and now will only start in safe mode.

I'm a software developer. I used to port BIOSes and bootroms for about 6 years or so, but recently I've found myself in the financial sector, still writing software - Not quite as interesting, but there are other benefits...

My PWBoot created Windows 7 USB HDD now boots. I only get to the password screen as the touchscreen only worked for a while on the 'please wait' screen while it loaded drivers. No touch input now. The Realtek fizzy background sound that accompanies certain XP drivers was also heard on boot. There is still intermittent drive access, so I think Windows 7 is still alive. EDIT: powered off Joggler and bluescreens on boot before the 'please wait screen. I'll make a fresh new boot drive and plug in my keyboard & touchpad to the internal port.

Can you give me details of any blue screens you see.

There's a few I know about:

i.e.

USB_BUGCODE_DRIVER
STOP 0xFE

aw, nuts. I didn't think as I believed it was due to my powering off. I'm starting again with W7 and W98 from scratch so I'll be sure to get screen shots of everything from now on.

My attempt to boot W7 earlier today was done with a disk that I had already setup on my laptop, the installation was complete.

starting again from scratch, PWBoot installs W7 to a HDD up to the first reboot. Install continues on the target machine, the Joggler when first booted.

At the first attempted reboot on the joggler, it sticks on Shutting Down.

After cycling the power, the Joggler won't boot, normally or in Safe mode. It stops on disk.sys.

WOW; I am impressed!

OK found a do all from ISO to USB stick application and writing a W7 USB stick thing now to give it a go.

Yup boots up my W7 "do all combo W7 multifeature boot disk" . Very impressive and touch works; forgot to plugin a keyboard and mouse.

OK so will put the USB ZIF drive on another port (with a hub?) to install W7 on? Is that what you are doing Mevi?

Trying here from scratch a bit with the boot USB install disk and a ZIF drive for OS. Plugged in keyboard and combo keyboard mouse to a hub along with the ZIF drive. Sees all so far. A prebuild like Mevi would probably go much faster; shortcutting here (not really though cuz its still looking for drivers).

Yeah I've seen this. I don't think it's stopping on disk.sys, that's just the last thing that's loaded before the Kernel kicks off. After that it parses the ACPI tables and likely trashes its self. It's just so damn hard to get any useful information out of Windows as to why it's hung. I seriously just want to snap my fingers and have this problem fixed. Not in the mood for killer bugs right now :P

Using the same URL from Inaxeon's PM, V0.4.

I have my keyboard/trackpad combo dongle on the internal USB port - Wifi removed. A USB HDD is on the external port. USB HDD is incredibly slow with W7, so put some hours aside for the install to flash stick. :)
