sms text messages on the joggler

Post by elteluk »

I couldn't find a topic dedicated to the "50 free texts per month" service provided by o2, so I thought I'd start one!

Is this service still available? If not, when did it finish?

I have PnP III installed and the messaging service doesn't appear to be working, although I seem to remember it working last month.

In a forum post, someone suggested as recently as 25th May that the messaging service works on a reflashed joggler:

Is that still the case?

sms text messages on the joggler

It appears to still work on Jogglers running the original OS, but will continue to work only while the service is active at O2's end. They've said it will be closed, so it could be switched off at any time now.

If you use my reflash tool to put the old OS back onto a Joggler, it will indeed bring back the Messaging app.

Messaging does appear to still work at present, although I'll echo roobarb's wise words above. I took the messaging app off PnP III from the outset in readiness for the inevitable switch off.

as PNP has opera mobile, people could use a web based sms service - not as nice as the app I guess but should do the job.
