Spam PMs

Post by Andi »

I've started getting spam bots PM'ing me through this forum.
Phpbb is a bit of a target for this, I used to run a phpbb forum and suffered the same.

Admins, you might need to look at your registration challenges.

Thank you Andi.

Yes it has been really bad lately with the spam. It comes and goes in waves.

A couple of years ago only solution that worked was not having any new members join the forum for a period of time.

Every day now we have 10 and up new spammers here.

I just removed a user now - apologies for the Spam. Spam is just very high at the moment in general, but I will look at additional anti spam measures and see if I can put some limits on PMs.

Hello Andrew1971,

From here I am unable to delete spam emails...just users generating spam which I have done.

It has been Hawsey too and I doing this stuff. Sometimes it worse than other times but cleaning up occurs every day now. I do not understand why so much spam?

I need to update the forum and add some more countermeasures - Hopefully in the next week or two.
